Hi all,

I have OH2.5.1-2 running on a RPi4B and have the same software setup as shown in the first topic entry. If I remove the offsets in my thing file everything runs fine. If I add the offsets 3 things happen: 1) The offsets are not registered by the Astro binding (PaperUI). 2) Triggers are still shown in the log file but without offset (of course). 3) No command is being sent to turn On the light. So, adding offsets seems to block the On command.

The trigger seen is:

Looks good.

I recall at one time there was a problem with events triggers where triggered worked (and you could examine trigger type in rule) but triggered START did not. You would still see the appropriate events in events.log of course. I think this was fixed long ago.

I have recently bought and installed a ZWO EAF onto my RC 10 Truss Tube scope. I am looking to program in autofocus triggers when imaging using NINA's advanced sequencer, but I am not sure on what to look for as indicators that the telescope might need to refocus. Can anyone with similar gear share their experience on what triggers to place to perform a re-focus of the scope? I would appreciate the help.

I agree with you if not using reasonable trend settings which can pretty well avoid any outlier values caused by single sub anomalies or a short run of subs during transient clouds. It's super rare for me to have clouds heavy enough for long enough to exceed my trend tolerance yet still be giving usable data. Basically, transient clouds that are still imageable through for my setup tend to _reduce_ HFR, which doesn't trigger an AF, and if they are heavy enough to bloat the HFR the data isn't usable anyway or my sequence halts imaging until it clears up again. Either way, the HFR has to trend higher over time to trigger an AF, it's not something that happens very often unless temperature plunges quickly. If temperature is stable I won't see any triggers at all regardless of clouds.

While I see that HFR is the most common method for people, I don't think I can rely on it. For me, the seeing can sometimes change considerably from bad to good or the other way around over the course of a whole night. This doesn't always happen, but it is something I want to consider. Since I image at 2000mm, my telescope is very sensitive to these seeing condition changes, meaning for instance, my HFR values can drastically rise over half an hour, but the air temperature is more or less the same, and thus, the telescope is still in focus. My HFR values can range from as low as 4 to as high as 6, depending on seeing conditions and the altitude of the object I capture (I typically don't use anything with an HFR greater than 5.2).
