This project was designed to examine the effects of three brain stimulants commonly found in energy drinks on the small quick developing plant, Brassica rapa. This research will help broaden the understanding of the effects of these compounds against a common plant. The hypothesis stated that out of the three compounds (caffeine, ginseng, guarana) caffeine and the other stimulants would have contributed to healthy growing of the plant, Brassica rapa. In experimentation ten seeds were placed in individual planters and watered with three different levels of the three compounds (caffeine, ginseng, quarana). The plants that received caffeine grew at a much slower rate than the plants exposed to ginseng and guarana. I expected the caffeine to make
the plants grow at a quicker rate than the rest of the plants because of the low dose was. Although i was not fully surprised by this because of the research done that shows a significant stunt in growth upon human beings consuming high doses of caffeine on a daily schedule. The fact that growth
ed and development was extended leads to the conclusion that high doses of caffeine will result in stunting of the development and growth of a plant while ginseng and guarana will increase the rate of growth slightly.
