Continental Drift is the hypothesis that Earth's continents have moved over geological time relative to each other, appearing to have "drifted" across the ocean bed. This idea was first proposed by Alfred Wegener in 1912, who suggested that the continents were once part of a supercontinent called Pangaea before breaking apart and drifting to their present locations.
Pangaea (Supercontinent)
Around 300 million years ago, all continents were connected in a single landmass called Pangaea.
Around 200 million years ago, Pangaea began to break apart into two major landmasses:
Laurasia (Northern Hemisphere – includes present-day North America, Europe, and Asia)
Gondwana (Southern Hemisphere – includes South America, Africa, Antarctica, India, and Australia)
Over millions of years, these landmasses further fragmented into the continents we see today.
Wegener’s Evidence for Continental Drift
Fit of the Continents: The coastlines of continents like South America and Africa fit together like puzzle pieces.
Fossil Evidence: Similar fossils of plants and animals (e.g., Mesosaurus, Glossopteris) were found on continents now separated by oceans.

Paleoclimate Evidence: Fossilized tropical plants were found in Antarctica, indicating the continent was once in a warmer climate zone.
Glacial Deposits: Evidence of ancient glaciers was found in now tropical regions like India, Africa, and South America, suggesting these landmasses were once closer to the poles.
Why Was It Rejected Initially?
Wegener could not explain the force responsible for moving continents.
Many geologists believed the Earth’s crust was static.
Scientists favored the land bridge hypothesis to explain similar fossils on different continents.
What Led to Its Acceptance?
In the 1950s and 1960s, seafloor spreading and plate tectonics provided a mechanism for continental movement.
Harry Hess (1960s) discovered mid-ocean ridges where new crust forms, pushing continents apart.
Paleomagnetic studies showed that Earth's magnetic poles reversed over time, supporting the idea of moving continents.

Alfred Wegener's Continental Drift theory was revolutionary, even though it was initially dismissed.
It led to the development of Plate Tectonics, now a cornerstone of modern geology.
Today, we have overwhelming evidence that continents continue to drift, reshaping Earth's surface over millions of years.

Alfred Lothar Wegener (1880–1930) was a German meteorologist, geophysicist, and polar researcher, best known for developing the theory of continental drift. Born on November 1, 1880, in Berlin, he was the youngest of five children in a clergyman's family. Wegener pursued studies in physics, meteorology, and astronomy at the universities of Berlin, Heidelberg, and Innsbruck, earning his Ph.D. in astronomy from the University of Berlin in 1905.
Despite his background in astronomy, Wegener's primary interests lay in meteorology and climatology. In 1905, he began working as an assistant at the Aeronautisches Observatorium Lindenberg near Beeskow, Germany, where he and his brother Kurt pioneered the use of weather balloons to track air masses. In April 1906, the Wegener brothers set a world record by staying aloft in a balloon for 52.5 hours.
Wegener participated in several expeditions to Greenland to study polar air circulation and glaciology. His first expedition was the Danish Danmark Expedition (1906–1908), during which he constructed the first meteorological station in Greenland near Danmarkshavn. He returned to Greenland in 1912–1913 for the Danish Expedition to Queen Louise Land, where he and his colleagues became the first to overwinter on the inland ice.
In 1912, Wegener introduced his groundbreaking theory of continental drift, proposing that Earth's continents were once joined in a single landmass, which he called "Urkontinent" (German for "primal continent"), and had since drifted apart. He presented this hypothesis in a lecture to the Geological Association in Frankfurt and published it in the journal "Petermanns Geographische Mitteilungen." Wegener expanded on his ideas in his 1915 book "Die Entstehung der Kontinente und Ozeane" ("The Origin of Continents and Oceans"). Despite providing extensive evidence from various scientific fields, his theory was met with skepticism by the scientific community, primarily due to the lack of a convincing mechanism for continental movement.
During World War I, Wegener served as a meteorologist for the German Army. After the war, he held positions at the German Naval Observatory in Hamburg and later became a professor of meteorology and geophysics at the University of Graz in Austria in 1924. Throughout his career, Wegener made significant contributions to meteorology, including pioneering work in polar research and atmospheric sciences.
In 1930, Wegener led the German Greenland Expedition, aiming to establish permanent scientific stations and conduct comprehensive studies of the ice sheet. During a supply trip to the Eismitte station in November 1930, Wegener died, likely due to heart failure caused by overexertion. His body was discovered months later and buried in the Greenland ice sheet.
Although Wegener's continental drift theory was not widely accepted during his lifetime, it laid the foundation for the development of plate tectonics in the mid-20th century, fundamentally transforming our understanding of Earth's geological processes.
As per scientific theory there was no human life when Pangaea existed.
Pangaea formed around 300 million years ago and began breaking apart about 200 million years ago during the Mesozoic Era (the age of dinosaurs). Humans, in contrast, evolved much later:
The first early human ancestors (hominins) appeared only 6-7 million years ago.
The first modern humans (Homo sapiens) appeared about 300,000 years ago.
By the time humans evolved, the continents had already moved into positions similar to today. So, no human ever walked on Pangaea

"Right... well, you see, some folks, they don’t get it. A guy like you, towering over everyone, with that... intensity in your eyes. You’ve got to tone it down, be a little more... smooth, like that saxophone player over there."
Gorilla: [looks over his shoulder at the saxophonist, then shrugs, still confused]
"Smooth, huh? You mean like him?" [gestures at the saxophone player, who’s playing a slow, sultry melody] "What’s so civilized about that? He’s just blowing air through a metal tube."
Man: [chuckling, shaking his head slowly]
"It’s not the tube, my friend. It’s the way he’s doing it—controlled. It’s not about strength; it’s about style. He can make people feel something with just a note. You’ve got to find your own way of doing that, you know?"
Gorilla: [leaning forward, intrigued, grunting lightly]
"Find my way of... feeling something with just a note? What, you mean I should play music too?"
Man: [chuckling, raising his glass in a toast]
"Not exactly... but you could. You could start by, you know, thinking before you act. Maybe instead of tearing up the place, you show a little grace. Smile at someone, listen to what they’re saying, and don’t just grunt when they ask you something."
Gorilla: [sips drink again, thinking, then lets out a low chuckle]
"Well, old man, maybe I could give that a shot. A smile, huh? Don’t know if I have one that’s civilized... but I’ll try."
Man: [grinning, patting the gorilla’s massive arm lightly]
"That’s the spirit. And hey, I know you’re a gorilla, but if you want to work on your style, maybe try to keep the growls to a minimum. Let the music and the conversation do the work."
Gorilla: [grins widely, showing a hint of sharp teeth, but with a playful glint in his eyes]
"Alright, alright. I’ll work on it. No more smashing tables... unless I really have to."
Man: [laughs softly, raising his glass]
"Deal. Now, how about we just enjoy the music? Just sit back, relax... like the civilized folks do."
Gorilla: [leans back in chair, raising his glass high with a grin]
"Cheers, old man. To civilized gorillas."
[The saxophone swells into a smooth, slow melody, and the man and the gorilla sit back, their conversation fading into the soft ambiance of the bar.]

Gorilla: [shocked, stepping back]
"Plastic? But... I’ve never seen this before. Why don’t they stop?"
Whale: [struggling to raise its head, eyes heavy with sorrow]
"Because they don’t know how deep it goes. They don't see how the plastic affects everything. It suffocates the fish, chokes the turtles, entangles us. And now, we’re dying—slowly but surely. The humans are turning their oceans into graveyards, and they don’t realize that they are poisoning their own future too."
Gorilla: [growling low, more in confusion than anger]
"But I’m just a gorilla... I don’t understand how I can help. I only spoke to a human for a moment. What can I do to stop it?"
Whale: [with a slow, deliberate motion, the whale pushes a small USB pen drive towards the Gorilla, who takes it cautiously]
"Here. This contains images of what’s happening. The plastic that’s piling up in the ocean. Places where it’s most dangerous. The humans need to see it—see the damage they’re causing. Maybe if you speak to them, they’ll listen. I can’t reach them, but you, you can. Please. Take this message. If they don’t stop, it won’t just be the ocean that dies. It will be everything."
Gorilla: [eyes soft, understanding the weight of the whale’s words]
"You’re asking me to speak for you? For the ocean and its creatures?"
Whale: [gently]
"Yes. You’re the bridge. You’ve spoken to humans before. You can tell them. The oceans will continue to suffer. If they don’t change, it’s not just the sea that will disappear, but all life connected to it... including them."
[Scene: The Gorilla is alone in the jungle, standing at the edge of a small clearing. The sunlight is filtering through the dense canopy above, casting long shadows on the forest floor. [His mind flashes back to the images of the ocean, swirling with plastic, the animals trapped and suffocating, and the despair in the whale's eyes as it sank back into the deep. The Gorilla shakes his head, trying to push the image away, but it only becomes clearer.]
Gorilla: [muttering to himself, more determined now]
"They need to know. They all need to know. The ocean can’t die... and if it does... we all will."
[He looks up, as though seeing the world differently now, his eyes focused and resolute.]
Gorilla: [nodding slowly, to himself, with more conviction]
"I’ll take this to them. I’ll make them listen. I won’t let the ocean... and its creatures... disappear."
[He turns, glancing over his shoulder towards the jungle, his steps steady and firm as he begins to walk off with the pen drive still tightly in his hand. The sound of the saxophone from the bar lingers in his mind, reminding him of his encounter with the man and the need to be civilized—to carry the message carefully, but urgently.]
Gorilla: [whispers softly as he walks away, determined]
"It’s up to us now... we have to act, before it’s too late."
An Oceanic Gyre is a large system of rotating ocean currents, primarily driven by global wind patterns and the Earth's rotation. These massive circular currents occur in the major ocean basins and play a significant role in global ocean circulation. They have a major impact on climate patterns, marine ecosystems, and the movement of debris and pollutants.
Oceanic gyres form due to the interaction between the Coriolis Effect, which is caused by the Earth’s rotation, and prevailing wind patterns. These gyres are created when the winds push water in a circular motion. As the water moves in a clockwise direction in the Northern Hemisphere and counterclockwise in the Southern Hemisphere, large, rotating currents form.
There are five major oceanic gyres in the world, one in each of the Earth's major ocean basins:
North Atlantic Gyre
South Atlantic Gyre
North Pacific Gyre
South Pacific Gyre
Indian Ocean Gyre
Each of these gyres has a central, calm area where the currents converge. These areas are important because they can trap floating debris, such as plastics, leading to the formation of "garbage patches" in the center of these gyres.
One of the most well-known consequences of oceanic gyres is the formation of garbage patches. As the rotating currents move water in a circular motion, they gather debris that floats in the ocean. These debris patches accumulate in the center of the gyres, where the waters are calmest. Over time, these garbage patches grow larger, trapping plastic waste, fishing nets, and other pollutants.
Notable Oceanic Gyre Garbage Patches:
Great Pacific Garbage Patch (North Pacific Gyre)
The largest and most well-known garbage patch, located between California and Hawaii, it covers an area estimated to be twice the size of Texas. This patch contains massive amounts of plastic waste, impacting marine life.
North Atlantic Garbage Patch (North Atlantic Gyre)
A similar phenomenon occurs in the North Atlantic, where debris accumulates due to the circulating currents.
Indian Ocean Garbage Patch (Indian Ocean Gyre)
This gyre collects debris that gets caught up in its currents, causing environmental concerns for marine life in this part of the world.
The creation of garbage patches in these gyres poses a serious threat to marine ecosystems. Marine animals, such as fish, seabirds, and sea turtles, often mistake the plastic debris for food, leading to ingestion, entanglement, and death. This plastic waste can also break down into microplastics, which enter the food chain and potentially affect human health.
In addition to its direct impact on marine life, the plastic waste in the gyres also affects marine biodiversity, blocking sunlight from reaching underwater plants and disrupting the natural cycles of ocean life. The coral reefs, fisheries, and coastal ecosystems are also vulnerable to the pollution that accumulates in these regions.
Oceanic gyres are essential to the global climate system. They regulate the movement of warm and cold water around the planet, which in turn affects global weather patterns. For example:
The Gulf Stream, a part of the North Atlantic Gyre, brings warm water from the Gulf of Mexico to the North Atlantic, influencing the climate of Western Europe.
The El Niño and La Niña phenomena, which affect global weather, are also connected to oceanic currents and gyres.
An oceanic gyre might look like a vast, swirling whirlpool when seen from above, with the currents of water moving in a circular or spiral motion. Picture a huge circular flow of water that covers thousands of miles, gently drawing in everything that floats into its center. These gyres are a perfect example of nature’s balance—powerful, yet unnoticed in the vastness of the oceans.

Microplastics: These are small plastic particles, often smaller than 5mm in size, which result from the breakdown of larger plastic items. Over time, plastics break down under UV light, heat, and saltwater, but they don’t completely biodegrade. Instead, they fragment into tiny pieces that are difficult to clean up and are often consumed by marine life.

Suffocation and Entanglement of Marine Life:
Marine animals such as sea turtles, whales, fish, and seabirds often mistake plastic waste for food. When ingested, plastic can block their digestive systems, leading to malnutrition, internal injuries, or death. Entanglement in plastic debris like fishing nets or six-pack rings is also a major cause of injury and death for marine creatures.

There are five major garbage patches in the world’s oceans where plastic and other debris accumulate due to ocean currents. These patches form in the center of ocean gyres, which are large systems of rotating ocean currents. Each of these gyres traps waste in a concentrated area. Here's a breakdown of the major garbage patches:
1. Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGP)
Location: North Pacific Ocean, between California and Hawaii, in the North Pacific Gyre.
Size: Estimated at 1.6 million square kilometers (about 620,000 square miles), roughly twice the size of Texas or three times the size of France.
Composition: Mostly plastics (80%), including microplastics, plastic debris, abandoned fishing nets, and other waste.
2. North Atlantic Garbage Patch
Location: North Atlantic Ocean, centered around the North Atlantic Gyre, roughly between the eastern U.S. and western Europe.
Size: While not as large or well-studied as the Pacific patch, it's believed to be significant in size.
Composition: Similar to the Pacific patch, this garbage patch is mostly made up of plastic debris and microplastics.
3. South Pacific Garbage Patch

The herb is also a boon to such other internal organs as the pancreas, kidneys, stomach, and spleen. The dried leaf, taken as a tea, is used as a mild laxative to relieve constipation. Dandelion leaf is also a good natural source of potassium, and will replenish any potassium that may be lost due to the herb’s diuretic action on the kidneys. Bring 2.5 cups of fresh nonchlorinated water to the boiling point and add it to the herbs. Cover the mixture and steep for 15–20 minutes, then strain. Drink the infusion warm or cold throughout the day, up to three cups per day. The prepared tea can be kept for about two days in the refrigerator. Tincture: Combine 4 oz of finely-cut fresh dandelion root and leaf (or 2 oz of dry powdered herb) with 1 pt of brandy, gin, or vodka in a glass container. The alcohol should be enough to cover the plant parts and have a 50/50 ratio of alcohol to water. Cover and store the mixture away from light for about two weeks, shaking several times each day. Strain and store in a tightly capped dark glass bottle. A standard dose is 10–15 drops of the tincture in water, up to three times a day. Dandelion acts as a cholagogue, which means that it increases the flow of bile. It should not be used by persons with closure of the biliary ducts and other biliary ailments. Rangers discovered a one-year-old hippo, whom they have named Owen, alone and dehydrated near Kenya's Indian Ocean coast after he became separated from his herd in 2004.
They took him to a wildlife sanctuary in Mombasa, where he soon found a male tortoise with the same dark grey coloring as adult hippos.
The tortoise initially hissed at Owen, warning him to stay away, but according to park officials the pair have since become inseparable.
The Aldabran tortoise, called Mzee, or "Old Man" in Swahili, now eats and sleeps beside Owen. Rangers say they could not have placed Owen with another herd of hippos as he would have been killed by an adult male.
The park's tourism manager, Pauline Kimoto, told reporters: "Since Owen arrived on 27 December, the tortoise behaves like a mother to him. The hippo follows the tortoise around and licks his face."

The would-be robber was eventually released, with Zajac saying he had learned his lesson.

Leanne Carr was a 'poster girl' for Lincolnshire Police during her impressive 14 years with the force.
But she alleges she was hounded out following years of harassment and false accusations, leaving her life and career in tatters.
Now the 38-year-old has spoken about her ordeal for the first time and claims Lincolnshire Police is awash with misogyny and bullying, all of which she claims she’s witnessed first-hand.
The single mum-of-two was hit with three misconduct charges while on duty, but she claims her only crime was to post photos of herself online in skimpy bikinis.
Senior cops even investigated Leanne over snaps of her wearing a branded Rockstar energy drink bikini - wrongly believing it was the logo for Rockstar Games - the firm that produces violent video game Grand Theft Auto.
However, Lincolnshire Police have hit back and denied all allegations of bullying, misogyny and harassment, and told The Sun they treat such matters with "utmost seriousness".
Leanne was investigated for over two years amid accusations her attire in social media posts was not compatible with policing and that she was cashing by modelling- allegations she says were 100 percent untrue.
"The whole thing was ridiculous but it ruined my career, my relationship, and left me in a very bad place," said Leanne.
"I loved my job as a police officer and I was proud of what I achieved, but I felt I was knifed in the back by jealous colleagues and a force unwilling to get with the times.
"They didn't like the fact that I had become a sergeant and then acting inspector so young, so my social media was an easy target.
"But I wasn't willing to roll over and let them dictate how I should live my life."
Leanne eventually left Lincolnshire Police two years ago, but was unable to speak about her case due to legal proceedings, which are no longer active.
She's since become a full-time personal trainer and fitness model and a social media influencer with over 151,000 Instagram followers.
She also makes cash by posting X-rated content on her OnlyFans account, streaming fitness routines and selling merchandise.
"The irony is I'm now making crazy money by doing what the police have accused me of doing all along, only this time it's genuine," she said.
"I've been on OnlyFans for almost a year, it generates a good income.
"The fact I can now earn a living after all the pain and hardship is pretty amazing.
"The irony is I'm now making crazy money by doing what the police have accused me of doing all along.
"My reputation was completely destroyed, the police force destroyed a lot of things for me.
"But I'm a single parent with two wonderful children and I have to put a roof over their heads and give them a financially secure future."
Leanne, who has a degree in forensic science and criminology, first joined Lincolnshire Police in 2006 starting out in the control room.
She then became a constable and took all the exams to be quickly promoted to sergeant by the age of 23.
But she claims her male colleagues couldn’t hack being bossed around by a younger woman, refusing to call her by her rank.
After years of petty anonymous reports against her under the force's "bad apple" complaints system things took a turn for the worse in 2015.
Leanne had been off sick after tearing her bicep during a police training exercise and she had also just passed the exams and interview process to become an inspector.
It was not long after that she was hit with her first misconduct charge.
"I was on duty on Christmas Day when I went to a male colleagues house so he could watch his children open their presents," she said.
"There was an understanding within the force that officers working over Christmas could be at home or at a family members, providing you had your radio on and answered any calls.
"But the misconduct papers said I neglected my duty by going to the officer's house. It was a ploy to get their teeth into me."
Leanne was under investigation for a year, lost her inspector rank and was moved to another police station 45 minutes away.
Ultimately the force found no evidence of misconduct.
"During that time I went off sick because my mental health declined significantly, I felt bullied and undermined," she said.
Then in August, 2016 Leanne was called in for an "ethical interview" following a series of further anonymous complaints from colleagues.
"One said I was wearing pink nail varnish to work, one complained I drove a Porsche, others alleged affairs with colleagues, none of it had anything to do with policing
"It was then I was first accused of modelling for my partner's business because of the photos I was posting to social media.
"I told them I wasn't a model and had never earned any money from it, it wasn't a side hustle.
"But they didn't believe me, they just used it as another stick to beat me with."
"Thousands of cops post holiday photos online every day, but I was penalised because mine looked better than everyone else's."
Leanne was made to fill out a business interest form, despite telling the force she wasn't modelling.
"It was pointless, but they rejected it anyhow," she said.
Then Leanne hit the headlines in 2018 when glamorous shots emerged of her travelling in Thailand, Cyprus, Austria and South Africa, with allegations she had taken them while on long-term sick leave from Lincolnshire Police.
The copper, who had previously appeared in promotional material for the force, had shared provocative pictures of herself covering her breasts with pineapples and stretched out on a number of beaches in tiny bikinis.
But Leanne says none of the photos were taken when she was off work, but instead had been taken on annual leave and simply drip-fed onto her Instagram account over time
"I never stopped posting on social media, in a way it was my coping mechanism and I wanted to inspire others," she explained.
"My ex-boyfriend is a photographer and videographer, and I'm attractive and have a good body because I'm into my fitness.
"Thousands of cops post holiday photos online every day, but I was penalised because mine looked better than everyone else's."
Again top brass at Lincolnshire police accused Leanne of moonlighting as a professional model and influencer to make money.
But she claims she never made a penny from her social media accounts while working as a police officer.
Even after the ex inspector returned to her £45,000-a-year post she was accused of making money flaunting her cleavage while playing online video games, another thing she says wasn't true.
But this time Leanne was found guilty of misconduct for allegedly continuing to work as a model despite being rejected for a business interest application.
"I was placed back at a completely different station, the gossip, everyone's watching me, my mental health declined," she said.
"Then came the Rockstar allegations which didn't amount to anything, but I ended up going off sick due to work related stress.
"I eventually returned to work on restrictive duties, but went off on maternity leave in September, 2019.
"After that I couldn't face going back, I was suicidal and on anti-depressants."
Leanne quit the force in November, 2020 and took out legal proceedings against Lincolnshire Police.
In March this year, her legal team dropped her case nine days before the trial because she was posting pictures of her body on OnlyFans.
Leanne, who still dreams of returning to policing, to "make my kids proud", added: "I have been vilified and publicly humiliated because of the actions of Lincolnshire Police, but I wanted to speak out in the hope I can give some strength and courage to other people.
"If you believe in something then stand up for it, go with your heart and don't let people knock you down."
In a statement to the media, a spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “A former Sergeant of Lincolnshire Police brought a claim for damages alleging bullying and harassment, which was denied by the force throughout.
"The former officer discontinued the claim earlier this year, one week before a trial of the allegations was due to commence.
“Any allegation of misogyny, bullying and corruption among officers or staff is concerning and is treated with the utmost seriousness.
"There are strong processes in place within Lincolnshire Police to support those who report such behaviour, to investigate thoroughly, and to hold those responsible to account

On February 23, 2022, Shad Thyrion, a 24-year-old American man, was murdered and dismembered by his lover, Taylor Schabusiness. Thyrion's severed head was discovered by his mother, Tara Pakanich, in a bucket in the basement of their family home in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Other severed body parts, including Thyrion's bisected torso in a storage tote, were later discovered by police.
Schabusiness, who was involved in a sexual relationship with Thyrion, admitted to strangling him to death during sexual intercourse while they were both intoxicated with methamphetamine and prescription drugs. She continued to have sex with Thyrion's body before dismembering, removing his internal organs, and mutilating it.
Schabusiness was arrested and charged with murder of the first degree, mutilating a corpse, and third-degree sexual assault. On July 26, 2023, a jury convicted her on all three counts. Sentencing took place on September 26 with Schabusiness sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. On February 21, 2022, at around 9:30 p.m., Thyrion was picked up from the home of his mother, Tara Pakanich, by Taylor Schabusiness, with whom he had a sexual relationship. The couple, joined by a friend, went to an apartment on Eastman Avenue and smoked cannabis. Schabusiness stated in her interrogation that she and Thyrion also smoked methamphetamine, and injected Trazodone at the apartment after the friend left. The couple then returned to Thyrion's mother's house. Pakanich and her boyfriend, Steve Hendricks, were away at the time. They then went down to the basement and began engaging in sexual intercourse. Schabusiness claimed that they had engaged in erotic asphyxiation in prior encounters and on this occurrence, they had used metal chains. Schabusiness then proceeded to strangle Thyrion until he started to cough up blood. She continued until Thyrion was deceased which took around 3 to 5 minutes. Schabusiness then proceeded to perform oral sex and use sex toys on the body for several hours afterwards. The following morning she dismembered the body using knives she found at the house. Schabusiness positioned the body on the bed and beheaded it over a bucket and a storage tote to contain the blood. She then dumped the blood down the basement shower drain. She also claimed to have showered using the blood. She also removed the organs, including Thyrion's penis, and placed them in plastic bags, the tote, cardboard boxes, and the bucket.
Two days later, on February 23, 2022, Thyrion's mother found her son's head in a bucket in her basement. It had been covered with a towel. Later, police would discover Thyrion's removed penis in the bucket as well. Hendricks then called the police who did a search of the basement and found human organs stuffed into plastic bags and cardboard boxes. His torso was discovered in the tote with his dismembered foot placed inside it. Additional body parts including a leg were also found later in a crock pot box inside Schabusiness's minivan. Schabusiness was found later that day in her minivan by police. Her clothes were covered in blood and her left thumb had a cut. She also had scratches on her arms which she claimed were self-inflicted. She was arrested and charged with murder, mutilation of a corpse, and third-degree sexual assault on March 1. Schabusiness, earlier that year on January 3, was convicted and sentenced for 3 months for fleeing, eluding, and obstructing police. It is unclear if she was on work release at the time of the murder. She had removed a GPS tracker from her ankle.
Schabusiness's attorney, Quinn Jolly, submitted a not guilty by reason of insanity plea on September 1, 2022.
On February 14, 2023, Schabusiness attacked Jolly after he requested the trial date be pushed back so experts could determine her competency to stand trial. Schabusiness was tackled by a Brown County sheriff's officer. No one was seriously injured. Around ten minutes after the attack, Jolly told Judge Walsh he planned to file a motion to be removed from the case.He was replaced by Christopher Froelich on March 3, who requested that Walsh recuse himself as his witnessing the attack could affect his ruling. Walsh declined.
Forensic psychologist Diane Lytton testified that Schabusiness told her she "had a thing with Jeffrey Dahmer a year ago", although Dahmer was murdered in prison by a fellow inmate in 1994. On July 26, a jury convicted Schabusiness of first-degree intentional homicide, mutilation of a corpse, and third-degree sexual assault. On September 26, Walsh sentenced Schabusiness to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. Walsh said he had to protect the public from her. "This crime offends human decency, it offends human dignity, it offends the human community. It really does", he said. Thyrion's father forgave Schabusiness, saying, "I believe everybody makes bad choices, maybe not to this scale. It does no good to hate you. I know you've got a heart, got a mind."
Schabusiness is serving out her sentence at the Taycheedah Correctional Institution, a facility housing only female inmates that is located in the city of Fond du Lac.

This story is about Mehar Jahan, residing in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor, who is now in police custody. Videos of Mehar Jahan's cruelty towards her husband are going viral on social media. The senior officers of the police are astonished to see her brutality. How can someone behave like this with their own husband? This incident is from April 29th 2024. After the video surfaced, the police arrested this woman named Mehar Jahan on May 5th. She has been accused of attempting to murder her husband, physical assault, and harassment. According to the complaint given to the police, on April 29th, Mehar Jahan mixed a narcotic substance in milk and made her husband, Mannan Jaidi, drink it. After her husband became unconscious, she tied his hands and feet and tortured him severely. She first choked him, then sat on his chest and slapped him. The entire incident was recorded on CCTV cameras installed in the house. Mannan had secretly installed these CCTV cameras at home to expose Mehar's black deeds. Now Mehar's videos are viral on the internet. In the video footage, Mannan Jaidi is seen begging for mercy from his wife, but Mehar remains unfazed. In the case, a case has been registered against Mehar Jahan under sections 328, 307, 323, and 506 of the IPC at Siyohra police station in Bijnor. Satveer Yadav, a lawyer for criminal cases at the Delhi High Court, said that if someone is found guilty under section 328, they could be sentenced to a minimum of 7 years and a maximum of 10 years. Similarly, if proven guilty under section 307, they could be sentenced to 7 to 10 years. He said that under section 323, a sentence of three years is possible. Similarly, if someone is found guilty under section 506, they could be sentenced to a minimum of 2 years. In his complaint, Mannan Jaidi said that he married Mehar Jahan on November 17th last year. He already knew her and both had a love marriage. However, after marriage, Mannan came to know that his wife Mehar is addicted to drugs. She drinks alcohol and smokes cigarettes every day. When he tried to stop Mehar from doing so, she physically assaulted him. Mehar also threatened to kill him. In his complaint, Mannan said that his wife had tried to strangle him several times before. He also said that he had previously complained to the police against his wife.
LAFAYETTE, Indiana. (WLFI) — Residents are filing a complaint against the Lafayette Police Department after a wellness check gone wrong. WLFI has obtained video showing multiple Lafayette Police Officers entering the home without a warrant, and arresting people inside for resisting law enforcement.
On May 21, multiple Lafayette police officers entered William Neal's home without a warrant. Neal said the incident stems from a wellness check in which Lafayette police said they had significant reason to believe someone was hurt inside. Lafayette Police confirmed they did not have a warrant.
"We had a call that we need to check on you. You need to come out here. That's not a lawful order," Neal said. "You need to come out here. We need to come out here. That don't make no sense."
Neal said the officer claimed a call was made to 9-1-1 and Neal, his son, and his girlfriend Tammy needed to step outside and speak with officers. Lafayette Police confirm no call was made from the house.
In a statement to News 18, Lafayette Police Chief Scott Galloway said, "Officers had received compelling evidence suggesting a domestic battery and confinement had occurred with persons at the address."
According to Neal, the evidence is a seven-year-old video of a domestic violence situation between Neal's other son, and another woman taking place in another town.
Neal said the son doesn't live in the house anymore. He and his girlfriend were wrongly addressed by the police as the names of the two individuals in the video.
"They talking about they want to bust into my house because I'm Michael, and this is Leslie. And I'm like, you're wrong," Neal said.
In his statement, Police Chief Galloway stated officers were "unable to verify the safety of the individuals inside."
Officers entered the residence and encountered two adult males, who were then arrested for misdemeanor resisting law enforcement. Tammy was left behind.
"Pull me down the steps, I trip, I hurt my knee. You know if you're here for a wellness check for a female, and then you man handle a female," Tammy Cooper said. "it doesn't make sense to me."
After being released from the Tippecanoe County Jail, Neal filed a complaint against the Lafayette Police Department.
"The had me posted all on the Tippecanoe booking sheet or whatever like I'm some kind of criminal. That was rape. Rape of my rights," he said.

On 05/24/2024 at 18.20 a conflict began in one of the bars in Pattaya on Soi 6. Three friends (we will call them by the color of the T-shirts (gray, blue and white) were drinking and when it became time to pay the bills two of them paid but one of the friends forgot his bill on the table. Staff bring it to him and afterwards the man with gray T-shirt agreed to pay but his friends who had already paid decided to start a conflict and began to behave aggressively. They started to insult the cashier, pointing their fingers in her face. For some reason running in to different customers in the bar and bully them. Man with white T-shirt grabbed the phone of one of the customers and threw it on the table.
The cashier said that everything had been paid but the clients had already behaved inappropriately and security had already been called.
Here is what we need to know. This is an independent security that monitors all Soi 6 and is not employees of a particular bar.
After the security appeared the white T-shirt began to behave like a hooligan standing in a fighting stance and raising his elbows in front of his face bullying the security and other customers. Blue T-shirt threw one of the bar customer out of the bar. At some point the gray T-shirt grabbed and began to push away two guards, while the white T-shirt ran around and bully the guards to which the guards reacted.
Clarification: judging by the statement of the bar employees and the cashier’s interview the security’s behavior was excessive and no one wanted this. As you can see by the video, bar employees repeatedly tried to stop both sides.
As a result of the altercation, the white T-shirt jumped out into the street and called security to fight which began outside the bar. In the first seconds of the fight white T-shirt knocked the guard to the ground with a direct blow, breaking his nose. During the fight the behavior of the guards was excessive but after the end of the fight the friends left the street.
As we see on the CCTV camera provided by the police, the friends freely walked away from soi 6. The video shows that they were dressed in the same clothes and the time of day was after it had gotten dark (fight took a place at 18.29, when it was still bright outside), so there is no doubt that the clients left the street on their own.
Over the following days rumors spread about the white T-shirt's coma, death, or critical condition. As of 05/28/2024, none of the participants, their friends or family members contacted the police or hospital.
The guards who took part in the fight were taken into custody and after the trial they will be given a significant fine and also fired from thier jobs.
Update: at the moment of the kick ("slap"), security with broken nose, was without shoes. Perhaps this is the reason why the white T-shirt was not seriously injured.

Phuong’s husband, Nguyen Thanh Tuyen, said that after a period of time treating stomach pain, Phuong’s health weakened. She lost weight after suffering from insomnia and digestive symptoms. She died on August 19 2015 at the age of 30.
Tuyen said recently, because of stomach pain, his wife had to go to HCM City very often for examination and treatment. Over a week ago, she began vomiting after eating.
Phuong began aging in 2008, when she was only 26 years old, after several months of taking allergy medicines.
Phuong was allergic to seafood. In 2008, after eating seafood, she suffered a serious allergy. Her husband bought allergy medicines from a local pharmacy for Phuong. She took the medicines for several days but they were ineffective. Tuyen took his wife to a local doctor, who diagnosed dermatitis and wrote a prescription for a week.
However, Phuong had hives on her face after taking the medicine. She stopped using the drug and saw many Oriental doctors and took different kinds of medicines to cure liver disease.
Using Oriental medicines for six months without effectiveness, Phuong turned to Chinese traditional medicines. Herb doctors still insisted that Phuong had liver disease and gave her medicine for liver diseases. The woman took Chinese traditional medicine for two months.
Phuong’s disease did not ease up and she aged very quickly, looking like a 70-year-old woman. She had to wear a mask whenever she left home. Except for her aged face and hands, her voice was as sweet as an 18-year-old girl.
Phuong’s beauty was destroyed by disease but her husband did not stop loving her.
After local newspapers wrote about her case, doctors from big hospitals in Vietnam gave their diagnosis.
Doctors at the HCM City Endocrine Association said that Phuong did not suffer from early aging, because she only looked old and no symptoms of old age. Her memory was very good. Biological functions of her internal organs were also normal.
Doctors from HCM City Medical University, Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital, HCM City Dermatology and Venereology Hospital said that Phuong was a victim of corticoid. Her skin looked old because she took medicine with corticoid for a long time and then suddenly stopped.
Some doctors from large hospitals in Hanoi said that Phuong was allergic to medicine because of an endocrine or genetic disorder.
In October 2011, doctors at the HCM City Medical University Hospital conducted skin tests but could not determine whether Phuong aged overnight.
The Sun and The Daily Mail, the two biggest-selling newspapers in the UK, had articles about Phuong.
The Sun, the UK’s biggest-selling daily newspaper, said Phuong’s disease could be lipodystrophy, -a rare syndrome which causes a layer of fatty tissue beneath the surface of the skin to disintegrate while the skin itself continues to grow at a startling pace.
The paper added that the syndrome, which has no cure, leaves victims with loose folds of skin on their bodies as well as wrinkled faces and features of people much older. Only 2,000 people worldwide are thought to have the condition.
Meanwhile, The Daily Mail quoted doctors saying the condition might be Cushing’s syndrome, which can be triggered if a person has very high levels of a hormone called cortisol in their blood.
According to the result of a skin biopsy conducted by medical experts at Baylor University in Texas, Phuong suffered from Mastocytosis and Acquired Cutis Laxa.
Phuong’s condition was very rare since she is the only second patient worldwide to have been diagnosed with these diseases.
After two months of treatment at the HCM City Medical University Hospital, Phuong came home with 30 percent of her itchy wrinkled skin reduced, making her look a bit younger.
Some Japanese television channels shot films about Phuong. In 2013 a Russian television station invited Phuong and her husband to Russia to participate in an international health program on aging.
