We are a student-run organization that supports journalism in all its forms, providing content and tips on how to prepare for the industry.
Taylor Kelso and Naisha Dunnville, two undergraduates, founded Aspiring Journalists in 2018. They wanted to create a space where African American student journalists could encourage one another by offering information services like internship and scholarship opportunities, writing workshops, networking panels, and more to jump-start their careers as future journalists. In 2019, the organization started to grow, and everyone has been invited to contribute their own original creative journalism, including student content, like poetry, photography, short stories, and conversations through podcast performances. The organization now focuses on connecting with more student journalists on social media by giving them the resources they need to get ready for a career in journalism.
