How We Research
We compare products from their published specs and features; the verdicts below are our independent editorial opinions.
If you want to bring a dead or damaged pair of Beats back to life with a tangle-free, mic-equipped replacement cord, choose Asobilor Replacement Audio Cable; if you need a cheap, plug-and-play USB headset for calls, classes and Zoom on a laptop or desktop, choose APETOO USB Headphones. These two products sit in completely different corners of the audio world. One is a spare part. The other is a complete listening tool. Neither replaces the other, so the right answer depends entirely on what's broken or missing in your setup right now.
• Asobilor Replacement Audio Cable — biggest strength: a 3.5mm to 3.5mm aux cord with in-line mic and remote, built specifically to fit Beats Studio, Solo, Pro, Mixr, Executive, Wireless and Pill speakers, with a straight plug on one end and an L-shaped plug on the other.
• Asobilor Replacement Audio Cable — biggest trade-off: it is only a cable. It makes no sound on its own, it only works with the headphone models it lists, and it needs a device with a 3.5mm jack to plug into.
• APETOO USB Headphones — biggest strength: a complete in-ear headset with a USB Type-A plug, built-in DAC chip, 7.5ft cord, on-cord mute and volume buttons, and a 20Hz–20,000Hz dynamic driver — no drivers, apps or adapters needed.
• APETOO USB Headphones — biggest trade-off: it is wired USB-A only, so it will not work with phones, Bluetooth devices or anything lacking a full-size USB port, and the in-ear fit is not for everyone.
• Pick Asobilor if your Beats headphones still work but the cable is frayed, lost or crackling.
• Pick APETOO if your laptop or desktop has no usable mic and you want a simple, ready-to-talk headset.
The Asobilor cable is a repair part, and it knows it. It's a 1.4m TPU-coated aux cord with oxygen-free copper wire and 24K gold-plated contacts, terminated in two male 3.5mm plugs — one straight, one L-shaped. That L-shaped end matters more than people expect: it tucks flat against a phone or laptop edge so the plug doesn't snag or bend when the cable gets yanked. The coating is soft and described as tangle-free, which is the difference between a cord you keep using and one you shove in a drawer.
The compatibility list is the whole point here. Asobilor names Beats Studio, Studio 2.0 and 3.0 Wireless, Solo, Solo HD, Solo 2 (wired and wireless), Solo 3 Wireless, Mixr, Pro, Detox, Executive, Wireless and the Pill+ speaker line. It also works as a plain 3.5mm aux cable for older iPhones (3GS through 6 Plus), Samsung Galaxy Note 2/3 and S3 through S6, LG and other Android devices. So if your Beats cable died, or you lost it, this restores the in-line microphone and remote control you'd otherwise lose — hands-free calls, track and volume control on the cord, no digging for your phone.
Buy it if you own any of those Beats models and the original cable is damaged or gone, or you want a spare to keep in a bag. Skip it if your headphones use a different connector, if you need actual sound from the purchase, or if you're shopping for a USB device — this cable has no USB plug and no battery. It's also not a Bluetooth solution; it's strictly a wired aux connection. One more note: it carries a 12-month warranty and a stated after-sales contact route, which is a reasonable safety net for a small accessory.
The APETOO headset is the opposite kind of product — a self-contained listening and talking device. It's an in-ear pair in rose-pink with a rose-gold plug and buttons, connected by a 7.5ft TPE cord. That length is the headline feature for anyone who has ever been tethered two feet from a desktop tower. You can roll your chair back, reach for a notebook, or stand up mid-call without unplugging.
Inside, a USB Type-A connector feeds a built-in digital DAC 7.1 chip that APETOO says transmits high-fidelity stereo without loss. The dynamic driver is rated 32 ohm across a 20Hz–20,000Hz range — a normal, full-range spec for spoken audio and general listening. The soft silicone tips are designed to isolate ambient noise, which is exactly what you want in a shared room, a lecture hall or an open office. Controls live on the cord: mute, microphone and volume, all by button. No software, no driver install — plug the USB-A end into a laptop, desktop, Chromebook, gaming console or PC and it works.
Buy it if you take Zoom meetings, online classes or long calls on a computer and need a mic plus mute within arm's reach, or you want a wired headset that won't run out of battery mid-session. The pink-and-rose-gold finish is clearly aimed at a younger or more playful buyer, and APETOO markets it that way. Skip it if you need Bluetooth, a phone connection, or USB-C. It's USB-A only, so a modern laptop with nothing but USB-C ports will need an adapter. The 8-month warranty is shorter than the cable's 12 months, and the in-ear design won't suit anyone who dislikes silicone tips seated in the ear canal. The box includes a mini zip case, a cord clip and two extra pairs of S/L tips, which softens the fit gamble.
• Best for reviving existing Beats headphones → Asobilor Replacement Audio Cable. It's the only one of the two that plugs into Beats at all.
• Best for computer calls, classes and meetings → APETOO USB Headphones. Built-in mic, on-cord mute, USB-A plug and play.
• Best for cord length and freedom of movement → APETOO USB Headphones. 7.5ft beats the cable's 1.4m (roughly 4.6ft).
• Best for portability and tangle resistance → Asobilor Replacement Audio Cable. 1.4m of soft TPU that coils down small, with a straight and an L plug.
• Best for noise isolation → APETOO USB Headphones. Silicone in-ear tips plus a stated sound-isolation design; the Asobilor cable isolates nothing because it makes no sound.
• Best for older phones, tablets and MP3 players → Asobilor Replacement Audio Cable. It lists iPhone 3GS–6 Plus, Galaxy Note 2/3, S3–S6, LG and other Android gear.
• Best for build materials → a tie, honestly. Oxygen-free copper and gold-plated connectors on the cable; thicker TPE wire and an alloy plug and buttons on the headset.
• Best for warranty coverage → Asobilor Replacement Audio Cable. 12 months versus APETOO's 8 months.
In my opinion, this isn't a close call — it's a question of what you're missing. If you already own Beats headphones with a dead cable, the Asobilor Replacement Audio Cable is the fix, and I'd buy it for the L-shaped plug, the in-line mic and remote, and the longer warranty. If you have a laptop or desktop and need to hear and be heard on calls, I'd buy the APETOO USB Headphones instead — it's the complete tool, not a spare part. Buying the wrong one gets you a cable with nothing to plug into, or a headset you didn't need. Match the product to the problem and you'll be fine either way.
It lists Beats Studio, Studio 2.0, Studio 3.0 Wireless, Solo, Solo HD, Solo 2, Solo 3 Wireless, Mixr, Pro, Detox, Executive, Wireless and Pill+ speakers. If your model isn't on that list, check the connector on your headphones before ordering.
No. They're wired USB Type-A only, so they need a laptop, desktop, Chromebook, console or PC with a full-size USB port. Phones and tablets generally won't work without an adapter.
Both do. The Asobilor cable has an in-line mic and remote for hands-free calls through your Beats. The APETOO headset has a built-in mic with mute and volume buttons on the cord.
These are very different product categories — a replacement accessory versus a complete headset — so comparing cost directly is misleading. Check the current price on Amazon for each and weigh it against what you actually need.
