Privacy Policy for Ask Sinai
Last updated: August 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Ask Sinai ("the App," "we," "us," or "our"), operated by [NexAgents Ltd / GenAI Labs — CONFIRM LEGAL ENTITY NAME], collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our mobile application to book or provide car and boat transportation services in the Sinai region of Egypt.
By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your phone number (used to verify your identity via SMS one-time code) and, if you choose to provide them, your full name, email address, city, and a profile photo.
1.2 Driver Verification Documents
If you register as a driver, we additionally collect photographs of your national ID (front and back), your driving license, and details about your vehicle (make/model, plate number, color, and vehicle type). This information is used solely to verify your eligibility to provide transportation services and is reviewed by our team before your account is approved to accept trips.
1.3 Location Information
We collect precise (GPS) location data in the following circumstances:
From customers, to determine pickup points and calculate trip routes and fares.
From drivers, continuously while marked "online" and searching for trips, so nearby ride requests can be matched to you — this continues even if the app is not in the foreground.
From drivers, continuously during an active trip, so the customer can see your live position en route.
Location access is required for the App's core functionality (matching drivers to riders and tracking trips in progress) and will not function correctly without it.
1.4 Trip and Booking Information
We collect information about the trips you book or provide, including pickup and destination addresses, fare amounts, payment method, trip status, and any rating you leave or receive.
1.5 Communications
The App allows drivers and customers matched on a trip to contact one another by phone call. To enable this, each party's phone number is made visible to the other for the duration of the trip.
1.6 Emergency (SOS) Data
If you activate the in-app SOS feature, we log the event together with your location and the associated trip, and the App will attempt to connect you to local emergency services by phone. This feature is provided as a convenience and is not a substitute for contacting emergency services directly.
1.7 Photos You Upload
Profile photos, driver verification photos, and any other images you choose to upload are stored on our servers (via Google Firebase Cloud Storage) and associated with your account.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
Create and manage your account and verify your identity;
Connect drivers and customers and facilitate trip bookings;
Calculate routes, distances, and fares;
Enable communication between matched drivers and customers;
Verify driver eligibility and vehicle documentation;
Respond to safety concerns, including SOS activations;
Provide customer support and respond to inquiries;
Maintain the security and integrity of the App;
Comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your personal information for third-party advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
3. How We Share Information
With other users: When you are matched for a trip, the App shares limited information between the driver and customer — name, profile photo, vehicle details (for drivers), live location during the trip, and phone number for the purpose of contacting one another.
With service providers: We use Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage) to operate the App's backend, and Google Maps Platform services to provide mapping, routing, and address lookup. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own data processing terms; see Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy for details on how Google handles this data.
For legal reasons: We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the public — including in connection with an SOS activation.
Business transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
We do not share your national ID or driver's license photos with other users; these are visible only to our verification team.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account remains active. Trip history is retained to support customer service, dispute resolution, and legal compliance. If you delete your account (see Section 6), your profile information and uploaded photos are deleted from our systems; some trip records may be retained where required for legal, accounting, or safety purposes, in de-identified or aggregated form where possible.
5. Your Rights and Choices
Access and correction: You can view and update your profile information (name, email, city, profile photo) at any time within the App.
Account deletion: You can request deletion of your account and associated data directly within the App, under Profile Settings. Deleting your account removes your profile, uploaded photos, and driver verification documents from our systems. Some trip records may be retained as described in Section 4.
Location: You can disable location permissions through your device settings at any time; doing so will prevent the App's core booking and trip-tracking features from functioning.
Communication preferences: You may choose your preferred language (Arabic or English) within the App.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children, and we require users to be at least [INSERT MINIMUM AGE — typically 18, given this involves driving/financial transactions] years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the information in Section 10 and we will take steps to delete it.
7. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures, including encrypted data transmission and access-controlled cloud storage (via Google Firebase), to protect your information. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed and stored on servers located outside of Egypt, as determined by our service providers (Google Firebase/Google Cloud Platform). By using the App, you consent to this transfer, storage, and processing of your information.
9. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Storage)
Google Maps Platform
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, through an in-app notice. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
