CGExAASUxKSA Global Café (3/14)

Tuesday, March 14 at 2:00 – 4:00 PM CST | LBC Rosenberg Mezzanine

AASU and the Korean Student Association (KSA) will be co-hosting the Center for Global Education (CGE)’s weekly Global Café on Tuesday, March 14th from 2–4PM in the LBC Mezzanine! In anticipation of Min Jin Lee’s visit the following week, we will be discussing more about her book, Pachinko. You can also learn more about AASU’s event lineup for CelebrAsian Week 2023! Stop by to chat with AASU and KSA or just to enjoy some light refreshments! Various Korean snacks will also be provided!


CGE is a hub for global learning and engagement for all undergraduate students at Tulane. All students can come to this office for support, as well as many great events and opportunities—one being their weekly Global Cafés on Tuesdays at 2PM. CGE is also closely related to the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) and the Office of Study Abroad (OSA).

HillelxAASU Shabbat (3/17)

Friday, March 17 at 6:30 – 8:00 PM CST | Tulane Hillel (912 Broadway Street)

We’re already counting down the days until AASU’s annual CelebrAsian Week begins! Get excited to kick off the week with AASU and Tulane Hillel, co-hosting a Shabbat dinner on Friday March 17th. We will start the night off at Tulane Hillel, 912 Broadway Street, with a quick Torah reading at 6:30PM, before opening the floor to chat amongst other members! The highlight of the night is always the amazing and completely FREE dinner service, open to all! It will also be the perfect chance to hear more about the full lineup of events we have prepared the following week, so feel free to bring some friends! The only thing we ask is to fill out this form by Friday, March 10 at 11:59PM so we can have a quick headcount.


Tulane Hillel is a non-profit community center that fosters leadership and community engagement, especially for Jewish life. Along with a great dining option called Rimon, Hillel is a great study spot on weekdays and be on the lookout for some of the events they host throughout the semester!

AASU x TUFSA Basketball Tournament

Monday, March 20 at 4:30 – 6:30 PM CST | Reily Rec Center - Auxiliary Gym

The 2023 CelebrAsian Week will tip-off with a 3-on-3 charity basketball tournament on Monday, March 20th at 4:30–6:30 PM in the back Auxiliary Gym of Reily Rec Center! AASU is collaborating with the Tulane University Filipino Student Association (TUFSA) to arrange this friendly competition open to ALL students, regardless of prior basketball experience. To shoot your shot for the grand prize(s), competitors must complete this form with a team of three by Friday, March 17.


Attendees and players will be asked to contribute $5 each as a direct donation, on the day of the event, to the Asian Pacific American Society (APAS), a non-profit organization of various local Asian communities committed to enhancing cultural awareness and preserving Asian history through different services.


Refreshments will be provided for players after the event. We HOOP to see you there!

2023 Zale-Kimmerling Writer-in-Residence Reading: Min Jin Lee

Monday, March 20 at 7:00 – 8:00 PM CST | LBC Kendall Cram

Love reading, writing, or just want to hear more about the genius behind the multi-award winning works, Pachinko, Free Food For Millionaires, and more? As part of her week-long visit as a Zale-Kimmerling Writer-in-Residence, students are able to attend traditional events such as a public reading and interview with renowned author Min Jin Lee, as well as informal social events. Join us for the first of many of the week’s coming events on Monday, March 20th in the LBC Kendall Cram for a reading from 7PM to 8PM, as Lee will be in conversation with E.M. Tran, author of Daughters of the New Year


The Newcomb Institute works in collaboration with university students and faculty to educate students in its mission to achieve gender equity, providing opportunities for students both within and beyond curricula. The Zale-Kimmerling Writer-in-Residence Program is coordinated through the Newcomb Institute, seeking to bring renowned women writers to interact with students on the Newcomb/Tulane campus every year.

Dinner with Min Jin Lee

Tuesday, March 21 at 6:30 – 7:30 PM CST | Diboll Gallery (The Commons Third Floor)

Are you an aspiring writer, avid reader, or even just a Pachinko fan? Join AASU, Compassion in Action, and Korean Student Association for a chance to dine and chat with renowned author Min Jin Lee at the Diboll Gallery on Tuesday, March 21 from 6:30–7:30 PM! At this Newcomb Institute-sponsored dinner, with Southern food from Angelaques Catering, students will be able to ask questions and engage with Min Jin Lee in a meet-and-greet, as we explore mindfulness practices in writing.


There are a maximum of 40 spots for this dinner, so please register ASAP at this form to secure a spot! The form will close on Wednesday, March 15, so keep an eye out for a confirmation email then and make sure to confirm your spot. Those that register after the first 40 will be placed on a waitlist and communicated with if a spot opens up later!

AASUxLBC Inga Lam Watch Party

Wednesday, March 22 at 8:30 – 10:00 PM CST | LBC 1834 Lounge

Come build up the excitement for our amazing guest speaker this year by joining AASU as we collaborate with the LBC for our Inga Lam Watch Party on Wednesday, March 22nd from 8:30–10:00 PM in the 1834 Lounge! We will be watching videos from Inga Lam’s YouTube channel and eating some “Tasty” snacks! We hope to see you (and a friend or two or three) there!! 


The LBC, known fully as The Lavin-Bernick Center for Student Life, is a hub of student activity. Not only are there many resources for students, dining options, and student run events, but the LBC  itself also hosts many activities for students. Some events are movie nights, Tulane Tuesdays, and Tulane after Dark (TAD), so be sure to check them out!

Friday Night with Inga Lam

Friday, March 24 at 5:00 – 7:00 PM CST | Freeman Auditorium (Woldenberg Art Center, AT-205)

To wrap up CelebrAsian Week this year, AASU will be hosting a Q&A and Meet-and-Greet with guest speaker Inga Lam! Join us in the Freeman Auditorium in Woldenberg Art Center (AT-205) on Friday, March 24 from 5–7pm. The Q&A will be from 5–6pm with the Meet-and-Greet following from 6–7pm. We will also be serving some delicious sandwiches from Banh Mi Boys!


Inga Lam was a previous BuzzFeed, Tasty, and About To Eat executive producer and is now a current YouTube personality. Meet the creator behind 24 hour cooking challenges and cultural food adventures, and learn about how her experiences as an executive producer and her upbringing has influenced the content she makes for her audience!
