Your Impact Matters
Numbers are secondary as compared to the seeds sown in the hearts. Our hope is for many to follow Jesus in a way that transforms lives and communities — touching hearts, changing lives.
Thanks to your generosity, we’re able to meet diverse needs across various tribes and communities in Thailand, Laos & Myanmar last year. We are deeply grateful for your support and ask that you continue to pray for our mission and share these needs with your network of friends. Together, we can make an even greater difference this year.
On average, we served 75 patients and caregivers each month at Living Waters Home, totaling 892 guests in 2024. Some stayed for extended periods (2-3 months or more), allowing us to build deeper relationships. Acts & messages of unconditional love and mercy, fosters meaningful relationships.
Working closely with Maharach Hospital & in 2024, with Nakornphing is important. We provide free rice & eggs for the patients, and also caregivers when they stay with us. We are also blessed by occasional gifts of rice & in kind from the patients themselves, as well as from local NGOs.
2024 also sees an increase of guests made of war victims from the civil war in Burma. Subsistence farmers in Karen State face hardships from poor weather, pests, and the civil war, limiting many to just one or two meals a day and causing malnutrition. At Living Waters, we provide war victims with three daily meals as they transit or recover, supporting their immediate nutritional needs.
With a budget of just RM 400 (THB 3,000)* per person a year, we're able to feed and provide a shelter for more than 75 guests each month.
2024 began on a somber note with the passing of Ton Yun in February, a loss deeply felt by Su and the community. The outpouring of compassion from friends highlighted the deep connections within our mission, and have helped to rebuild Ton Yun's family home, among the many needs that have been met last year.
Since 2014, we have provided diapers, commode chairs, walking aids, and toilet bowls to elderly and disabled individuals through hospitals, and village health volunteers. In 2024, about 150 young parents, disabled & elderly persons have received support through this project.
Meanwhile, soft toys generously sourced from sponsors in Malaysia brought joy to 680 new parents and families last year. These Ikea soft toy were distributed at hospitals and Living Waters:
550 at Maharach Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital
100 at Nakornping Chiang Mai Hospital
30 at Living Waters
Besides giving and helping the needy, giving and sharing gifts often help strengthen relationships and harmonious connections.
In partnership with ISCA youth from Penang Christian Center, we hosted the 16th Language Camp for 363 students from two schools in Nan Province last year. This program has been a vital part of our mission since 2010, enriching the lives of young learners, while elevating and encouraging our local network. The youths also run a community project in the village.
In partnership with the Sankankaew Foundation, Living Waters successfully raised support to fund the installation of 5 water tanks across five villages in the Mae Tern and Chom Thong districts. This initiative aims to provide a reliable source of drinking water to these communities during the drought season.
Border Outreach Initiatives
We experience different forms of trauma in life, but its worse for those forced to flee their homes due to war. As a certified facilitator-trainer with the Trauma Healing Institute, Su led three healing sessions in 2024, partnering with friends and fellow trainers, supporting Burmese refugees along the Thailand border. A total of 24 participated.
Through two mission teams, we facilitated the Beyond Success Personal Transformational Program at Kawthooley Hope Theological Seminary and Kwe Ka Baung Migrant School in Mae Sot. A total of 121 participants earned EQUIP certification, paving the way for personal growth and resilience. We hope to further expand this to launch Mentor@Maesot Center this year. Churches, Cell Groups & Volunteers are welcome to join us on this venture to impact displaced youths for a better future.
This year, escalating violence and conscription in Myanmar drove more youth into Thailand seeking safety and education. In response, we began sponsoring:
Children for Christ Dorm in June
Home for You Dorm in October
This initiative now supports 86 youths & children, providing them with basic care, education, and a brighter future. We are raising just RM 500 annually per child to meet their basic needs of food on the table.
To help older children continue their education, we launched a scholarship program that has funded schooling and college fees for 18 16* students so far. The students are refugees living in Mae La Refugee camp and Mae Sot migrant shools. We work in collaboration with Shalom Arts & Leadership College (SALC) and Karen Refugee Committee (KRC) leadership to ensure the funds settles the students' outstanding debts and fees. (* - My mistake, saw the wrong line!)
Together with a medical team from PCC, we organized a health screening at Koung Chor Shan refugee village, providing medical checkups for 58 villagers & 12 at Living Waters. As part of the outreach, we also distributed rice and cooking oil to approximately 110 households, ensuring essential support reached the community.
