Ashton will be premiering three of his short films at Maiden Alley Cinema in Paducah, KY. This includes his award winning short film Confession.
The screening is FREE for anyone to attend with a reception and discussion with the filmmaker following. Free food and drinks will be provided.
Ashton Culp is a young writer, editor, documentarian, and director from Paducah, Kentucky. He has a bachelor's degree in convergent media from Morehead State University and a diploma from InFocus Film School in Vancouver, BC, Canada where he was the top of his class. He was awarded a grant from his school to produce his final film project, for which he was recognized with an Award of Merit from Global Shorts in May 2026.
After earning his bachelor's of arts from Morehead State University, Ashton began working for the media production company Paxton Media at their Paducah news station WPSD Local 6 as an associate producer. He edited content created by local reporters and footage from CNN and NBC for the early morning news broadcast. He worked at WPSD from October of 2023 until February of 2025 when he made his journey to Vancouver, BC, Canada to start his education at InFocus Film School.
Ashton's personal work has primarily focused on LGBTQ+ related topics that relate to his own experiences as a queer transgender man. He enjoys making thought provoking content and recently produced a mini documentary project for the non-profit Provider Enrichment Services focusing on the experiences of a mother of a neurodivergent child navigating the system and programs offered to families in the region.
He also has experience managing and producing content for the YouTube channel Meemaw Knows, both filming and editing some of the earliest long form videos on the channel. As of May 2026, he is also managing and producing content for the social media pages of the coffee shop, Blended Brews.
With nearly six years of experience in editing and writing for the screen, both fiction and non-fiction works, he offers a wide variety of experiences with content production to produce commercial, documentary, and general video content for your business or production company.
