*BRUSHING GLAZE FOCUS*
1/12- First day! LOTS of talking, look at pieces students created in prep for class, overview of glaze room and bit of info about all of our different materials available (underglaze, vs stroke and coat, vs glaze), some chat about typical glaze makeup, some chat about layering glazes
Day 1 Goal: provide lots of information that we can comeback to and reference during rest of class meetings
1/19- HOLIDAY - NO CLASS - students should still look for a check in email from me :)
1/26- *Winter Weather delay... classes pushed another week...*
2/2- *ANOTHER Weather Delay! But actual snow this time!*
** I tossed a few test pieces through to talk about next week when we meet! Lots of information shoved into a small space**
2/9- Talking about goals/expectations/tests while working on skills.. gives me a chance to watch technique and provide feedback
HOMEWORK... bingo boards, start testing, PRACTICE! NOTES!
2/16- Looking over pieces already glazed so far, talk about changes made between previous pieces and current
HOMEWORK: Test,Test,Test... think of any final questions, concerns, etc that you would like more info on... we will try to squeeze as much info in as possible!
2/23- final questions answered, final thoughts, encouragement for continued work
Handouts:
8/6- check in with students, go over handout, brief chat on crazing and food safety, clay vitrification, explore glaze room, explain differences between glazes, quick glazing demo- texture of glaze and using tongs
HOMEWORK- start thinking about goals for self to work towards whether in class or outside of class! (make test pieces if wanted/needed)
8/13- Talk goals for class (handed out bingo cards), talk through opacity vs transparency, surface descriptions in the name of glazes, READING LABLES, Brush on demo/chat, some conversations around layering glazes, wax resist... glaze pieces!
HOMEWORK- use bingo card to plan goals, make more pieces to glaze if needed/wanted, glaze pieces, (Ashley's homework is to finish glazing mug demo & fire pieces you have on the shelf by Monday @about noonish)
8/20- oxides, look over results of finished pieces, maybe make test tiles together?... Refiring, underglaze info, troubleshooting as needed
8/27- LAST CLASS! it goes by so fast... look over any finished results from class, talk about next steps, troubleshoot as needed, any final questions... ONE MORE DIP DEMO!... how to feel better using them... Texture check & depth check before committing to idea
6/2- Check in with students, show how check texture of bucket glazes, meet glaze where it is rather than assume, read label on brush-on glaze, emphasize looking at ALL test tiles available for that glaze,

HOMEWORK- make test pieces, make plans, prep/test pieces
6/9- Talk through chosen challenges, feedback on pieces vs. wanna test, explore ideas and interests for testing with students (optional discussion &/or independent work time)
HOMEWORK- work on test pieces, make test tiles, glaze things, fill out challenge sheets
6/16- Talk about re-firing results, sgraffito, trouble shoot a glaze or two, answer questions
HOMEWORK- keep working on test pieces and testing, come up with any final questions or demos students would like to see
6/23- LAST MEETING ☹️ final questions, check in about personal challenges, look over what everyone has completed!
