The reality of general practice presents several challenges and opportunities for personal and professional growth.  One constant is the importance of gaining a profound understanding of how our patients value prosthodontic solutions that we are willing and able to provide.  The existing barriers to providing prosthodontic care will be discussed as well as viable solutions to mitigate these barriers.  Patient-centred care should be seen through the lens of how it directly impacts our patients’ everyday lives.  The provision of same day prosthodontic solutions is a sought after and attractive way to take care of our patient family as well as provide us clinicians with challenging, yet exciting and gratifying treatment solutions.

Dr. John P. Zarb earned his DDS at the University of Detroit Mercy in 1995. Upon graduation, he completed a one-year General Practice Residency at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI, followed by graduate prosthodontic training at the University of Toronto, earning his MSc in 2002. Dr. Zarb is a staff prosthodontist at Mt Sinai Hospital in Toronto and a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester, Eastman Institute for Oral Health. He has been involved with surgical and prosthetic implant dentistry education at both the undergraduate and graduate level, and serves as the co-Director of Genesis Continuing Dental Education and the Dental Community Resource. Dr. Zarb joined Barrie Dental Specialists in 2003. He is a Fellow, former examiner and Prosthodontics Director, and currently Registrar of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, a Fellow in the Academy of Dentistry International, and Fellow in the Academy of Prosthodontics, a Regional Councilor for the Association of Prosthodontists of Canada and the Ontario Dental Association, and a former Director of the American College of Prosthodontists.
