Biography

Arun Bhardwaj (born on 24 February 1969) is an ultramarathon runner from New Delhi, India. He is one of the first internationally acclaimed endurance runners from India.

He is the best multiday runner of India as well as whole South Asian region.

He was the first Indian to run over 100 miles within a time frame of 24 hours.. firstly on treadmill (2007: 102 miles: New Delhi) and then on road (2009: 110 miles: Athens Int'l 24hr race).

He was the first Indian to finish the Badwater Ultramarathon in 2011. As per the National Geographics, it is the toughest organised footrace on the planet.

Arun became the first ever Indian winner of any multiday race when he won the George Archer Six Days Race, 2010 in South Africa by covering 567 km.

He has also won the 3-Days race of Icarus Florida Ultrafest, 2015 by covering 325 km.

Arun used to be just like any other ordinary office going man before taking up ultradistance running at the age of 30 years, after the birth of his elder daughter.

To inspire her he chose himself to put as an example to prove that all is possible fr a willing heart.

Now, in the process, he is an established ultrarunner of international repute.

So far he has covered 11790km in international races in various countries viz. Taiwan, Australia, USA, Denmark, Mexico, Germany, Russia, Greece, England, Wales, South Africa, Serbia and Hungary.

At the age of 43 years, he became the first person to run across India i.e. Kargil to Kanyakumari via Leh, a distance of over 4000km in 61 days - 1st October to 30th November 2012.

Arun is a vegan and teetotaler.

He says that the best stimulants are our positive thoughts and indomitable will power.

And he proves it again and again. He ran Kargil to Kanyakumari without use of food supplements and medicines of any kind.

Once started running to inspire her daughter, now millions of Indians are being motivated by what he has done.

He enjoys the happiness he gets from inspiring fellow countrymen to start and running and living a healthy lifestyle.

174.6km in 24hr Stadium Run, Bengaluru Indian record for over 50 age group.
