After completing B.E in electronics and Communication (ECE) Dr. Thittai proceeded to do an M.S in Electrical Engineering at the University of Houston, Texas, USA and worked in the bio-signal analysis lab to develop signal processing algorithms for an automated system to detect seizures from neonatal EEG data. Thereafter, he completed his PhD in the field of Ultrasound Imaging (Specifically, Elastography) and undertook a postdoctoral fellowship at M.D.Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, USA. Dr. Thittai’s postdoctoral training focused on developing and optimizing high-frequency ultrasound imaging protocols for small animal imaging. Subsequently, he moved to The University of Texas Medical School as a Postdoctoral Fellow and was elevated rapidly to the level of Assistant Professor on Tenure-Track. After about 4.5 years at UT Medical School at Houston, he relocated to India in 2014 to join the Indian Institute of Technology Madras as an Assistant Professor. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Applied Mechanics, which hosts the Biomedical Engineering group.
