Privacy Policy

Aruki ("the app", "we", "us") is an interval walking fitness app developed by an independent developer. This policy explains what information the app handles, how it is used, and the choices you have. The short version:  your profile, location, and workout data stay on your device — we cannot see them. We do not have accounts or servers, we do not sell your data or use it to track you. Only anonymous usage statistics and crash reports are shared with us via Google Firebase.

1. Information the App Collects

Profile information you enter

When you set up the app, you may enter your height, weight, age, and gender. This is used only to estimate the calories you burn during walks. It is stored only on your device and is never sent to us.

Location (GPS)

With your permission, the app uses your device's GPS during outdoor walks to measure distance, speed, pace, and route progress, and to show GPS signal quality before you start. Location is used while you prepare and record a walk (including in the background during an active workout so tracking continues when the screen is off). Location data is processed and stored only on your device. We do not receive, collect, or share your location.

Motion & fitness data

With your permission, the app uses your device's built-in pedometer to count steps during outdoor walks. This data stays on your device.

Workout history

Your completed workouts (date, duration, distance, speed, calories, steps, interval settings) are saved in a local database on your device so you can view your history and progress. This history never leaves your device. Deleting the app deletes this data.

What we do NOT collect

The app has no user accounts, no sign-in, and no server of our own. We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, photos, or any personal identifiers. We cannot access your data.

2. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The free version of the app shows a small banner advertisement, served by Google AdMob.

- Ads in the app are configured as NON-PERSONALIZED. The app does not request permission to track you, does not use the advertising identifier for personalized ads, and does not share your activity with advertisers for ad targeting.

- To serve and measure ads, Google may process limited technical data such as your device type, operating system version, approximate (coarse) general location derived from your IP address, and ad interaction data (for example, whether an ad was viewed). This processing is performed by Google under its own privacy policy.

Purchasing Aruki Premium removes all advertising from the app.

3. Purchases & Subscriptions

Aruki Premium is an optional auto-renewable yearly subscription purchased through Apple's App Store (or the equivalent store on other platforms). All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We never see or store your payment details, billing address, or Apple ID. Your subscription status is verified on your device through the store's own system.

You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your device's subscription settings. Refunds are handled by Apple under their policies.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade any data. We do not share data with third parties, with the single exception of the ad-serving described in section 2, which is limited, non-personalized, and handled by Google. No workout, health, profile, or precise location data is ever shared with anyone.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

Because all app data lives on your device:

- Your data is retained only as long as the app is installed.

- You can delete individual workouts inside the app (Premium) or delete all data at once by uninstalling the app.

- We have no copy of your data, so there is nothing for us to delete on a server.

6. Children's Privacy

Aruki is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app shows only non-personalized ads. If you believe a child has used the app and you have concerns, contact us at the address below.

7. Permissions Summary

- Location (While Using / during workouts): distance, pace, and route measurement, and GPS signal quality. Optional — treadmill mode works without it.

- Motion & Fitness: step counting during outdoor walks. Optional.

- Notifications (if enabled): workout phase cues and the live workout status card on your lock screen.

You can change any of these permissions at any time in your device Settings, and the app will continue to work with reduced functionality.

8. Security

Your data is stored in the app's private storage area on your device, protected by your device's built-in security features (sandboxing and device encryption). Aside from the anonymous usage statistics and crash reports described in section 9, no data is transmitted to us, so there is no personal data on our servers to breach.

9. Google Firebase (Analytics & Crash Reporting)

We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used (such as which screens are viewed, session duration, device type, and operating system version) and Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports so we can fix bugs. This data is collected automatically, is not linked to your name or identity, and does not include your profile details, location history, or workout data. It is processed by Google on our behalf. 10. Changes to This Policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will be reflected in an app update's release notes. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
