Listen to the story, Snowmen at Night then follow the video on the right to paint a Snowman Starry Night. If you do not have access to acrylic paints, you can use watercolors OR you can draw the images instead using any drawing materials you have, ie. chalk pastels, oil pastels, crayon, marker, colored pencils, etc.

This lesson we were reviewing the learning objective: I can identify and use positive and negative space and I can identify and use outlines.
We began by creating a night landscape with black and gray paper. Next we created a snowman and winter trees. Then the snowman and trees were traced and cut from black paper to create a shadow or the negative space.
Finally the whole landscape with winter trees and snowman were glued onto a large white paper with the negative space create with the black trees and snowman.
***Remote students DO NOT need to use a larger piece of white paper; you can simply work on two separate sheets and put together.
***See some examples below
