The gorgeous pancake rocks are a popular location for visitors and locals to view the wonder of nature and spectacular ocean creations. The crashing waves make a thunderous sound and wow onlookers. Not far from there are even more natural oasis's, the Pororari river track offers glorious views and nature galore. This painting is based on this fantastic river setting.

"Maori Chief Rock"
Maori Chief Rock is situated in Pororari, Punakaiki on the West Coast of the South Island NZ.
The rock formation resembles that of a Maori Chief head and is a known local landmark. It is also referred to and known as the boot rock, as when the tide is out it forms a boot like shape.
On a visit to one of the many beautiful beaches of the West Coast, I took a few photos of this lovely area and felt inspired to paint the scene. 16x20 inch
