‘Our work seeks to create space where all people find freedom in creativity and are empowered to discover great moments in a celebration of artistic expression’.
The Supported Arts are designed to support the most vulnerable members of society. The supported arts hub will look at projects that connect with adults and the elderly living with Parkinson’s and Dementia as well as other life-long health conditions and support for learning disabled adults and children including those with PMLD.
The recent introduction of the Well Being of Future Generations Act (2015) has meant that we at Artis are preparing to be part of a forward-thinking, sustainable and healthier Wales. We aim to achieve this by creating community-focused programs of artistic and creative activity that offer participants nurturing arts experiences that improve health and wellbeing.
• How we can develop appropriate and welcoming spaces to support adults and children to access and fully participate in our programme of arts activity at our new home in Pontypridd, YMa.
• How we can build on this programme of activity as a community outreach programme using mobile sensory specific pop up spaces?
• How can we make use of the incredible technology and phone apps that support the YMa experience especially for Deaf/disabled and neurodiverse people.
As part of your first live brief, we would like you to work in teams to design a range of sensory and accessible space to be incorporated into the design plans at the YMA building that will directly benefit Deaf/disabled and neurodiverse people. We want you to think about the sensory aspects and our artistic engagement and the resources we might use, you will research other impactful spaces, cost out your ideas, sketch ideas or provide digital proposals if you are a tech wizard, you will create thoughtful and meaningful spaces for people living with a range of disabilities and health conditions making the perfect space that is nurturing, welcoming and fit for purpose.
• Research leading sensory spaces, accessible buildings, arts & cultural spaces
• Submit design ideas relating to the YMA Foyer area appropriate for a range of disabilities, design proposals for a chill-out break-out space, design and propose a pop-up space for mobile sensory disability workshops. • Research, propose new and exciting technologies bringing the accessibility of the building into the 21st century.
