Elena Fateeva - Design app for cafe

Cafe Time is a chain of coffee houses that offers not only coffee and snacks, but can also offer a full breakfast in order to attract more customers, we created an application and considered various delivery methods to capture customers who do not like to eat in cafes but prefer to eat at home.

My role: UX designer leading the app and responsive website design from conception to delivery.

Conducting interviews, paper, and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, iterating on designs, determining information architecture, and responsive design.

Problem: Busy workers don't have enough time to prepare meals.

Solution: Design an app for Cafe Time that allows users to easily order and pick up fresh, healthy dishes.

Target audience: Working adults are too busy to spend time on meal prep.

WIREFRAMES

Taking the time to draft iterations of each screen of the app on paper ensured that the elements that made it to digital wireframes would be well-suited to address user pain points. For the home screen, I prioritized a quick and easy movement through the menu to help users save time.

LOW SCREEN FLOW

Using a ready-made set of digital wireframes, I created a low-fidelity prototype. The main user flow that I included is menu navigation and different delivery methods, so the prototype could be used in usability research.

INSIGHTS

Users want to change the name of the menu section.
Users want to add different payment methods.
Users want to change delivery method names.

HIGH-FIDELITY SCREEN FLOW

The final high-fidelity prototype introduced cleaner user processes for menu navigation and checkout using different payment systems and different delivery methods.

RESPONSIVE DESIGNS

The designs for screen size variation included mobile and desktop. I optimized the designs to fit the specific user needs of each device and screen size.

The application allows you to think that Cafe Time really thinks about each of its clients.

NEXT STEPS

Conduct another round of usability studies to validate whether the pain points users experienced have been effectively addressed.
Conduct more user research to determine any new areas of need.
