Woodie Webber's
Just a Moment

As a plein air painter, my surroundings are alive with energy. Entrenched in a perpetual parade of people, animals, automobiles, and more, I must ask many questions in search of the truth of what I encounter. A successful painting requires total surrender to the task at hand. There is no past or future…only present. When I paint, I ground myself in the moment and transform into a conduit to the world around me. The hustle and bustle of life necessitates quick responses. Here one moment, gone the next. I do not wish to portray a particular instant in time or flawlessly replicate that which is found in nature. Cezanne says, “Art is a harmony parallel with nature.” I wish to translate the world around me through the medium of paint. Much like the act of meditation or prayer, working in such a manner provides me with inner fulfillment and facilitates a connection between myself and my surroundings. This is the heart of my work and the reason I paint.
