Laura Shabazz's
The Art of Turning Pages

Collages from Rescued Books and Magazines

Laura Shabazz, an award-winning NJ artist, creates collages entirely from salvaged

paper, using rescued book pages and magazine clippings as her palette. Her work,

shaped by improvisation and a commitment to sustainability, reflects a personal journey

of healing and transformation. The Art of Turning Pages: Collages from Rescued Books

and Magazines is a tribute to Laura’s love of reading, books, and paper. Whether

representing the experience of being lost in a favorite book or the ideal conditions to

enjoy said book (a glass of wine at sunset anyone?), each piece of analog, hand-cut

and hand-pieced collage reveals new stories hidden in discarded materials.
