Lozan Yamolky Poet

Lozan Yamolky

was born in 1972 in Baghdad. She is from Kurdistan/ Present day Northern Iraq, and she is the 5th of 11 children.

Due to persecution, she left her homeland with her family in 1994. While living in Ankara Turkey as an asylum seeker, she worked with UNHCR, Canadian and Australian embassies as an interpreter then migrated to Canada in 1995.

She studied, worked, volunteered, had two boys, and wrote poetry in the Lower Mainland ever since then.

She authored three collections of poetry, I’m No Hero, Counting Waves & her latest book was printed and self-published in Canada, Dreamers Needed.
