The plan this week is to sit tight and postpone practice start up. This week we should be getting more direction from CIF and our athletic department on Thursday or Friday. The reason we are not starting is multi-fold. First, the school is expecting coaches to volunteer their time. While I love coaching and my water polo family, I have a hard time leaving my dinner table to volunteer. I do believe they will pay us for the season however, with them being noncommitted it makes it difficult for us to commit as well. This is a terrible precedent for coaches to set to allow the district to not compensate us for the work both on and off the deck. Second, we are waiting to see what happens about the season starting. If we start up and schools/CIF decide to switch to purple sports our athletes would have to quarantined from cohort change to cohort change. If the season is canceled, my hope is that we would be able to run our program through the club. This would allow us to play games when allowed by the state or travel out of state (when allowed).

Future Planning (If we get to operate as a club or schools make a decision) I am planning on starting with practices to be held M, T, TH. We will be using the Early PM and Late PM schedule. This is dependent on an announcement of how the seasons will continue.

We are allowed to practice polo properly when we get into the orange tier. 🤦‍♂️. I could see us having a shortened season if we get into orange or water polo get's change tiers to red.
