Privacy Policy for A!rrange Smart Bookmark
Last Updated: February 1, 2026
1. Introduction
The A!rrange Team ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Chrome Extension, A!rrange Smart Bookmark (the "Service"), collects, uses, and discloses your information.
By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only the minimum amount of data necessary to provide our services.
A. Information You Provide / Data You Create
- Bookmark Data: When you save a webpage with A!rrange, we use the page URL, title, and main text content to create a bookmark. On your device, we store the URL, original title, AI-generated title (if enabled), a summary of the page (generated locally or from the content you saved), category, and similar metadata. This bookmark data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's extension local storage (chrome.storage.local).
- User Preferences: We store your settings locally, such as dark mode, AI title on/off, auto-categorization options, and category order. These are kept only on your device.
B. Automatically Collected Information (Local Only)
- Usage Statistics: We store locally how many times you open (click) each saved bookmark, so we can show you a personal dashboard (e.g., "Top 3 Most Visited" and category distribution). This data never leaves your device.
- Technical Information: Errors may be logged locally to help debug issues. We do not send these logs to an external server unless you explicitly report an issue.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Service Operation: To save, organize, and manage your bookmarks in the side panel.
- AI Features: To provide AI-powered title generation and category clustering, we send the minimum necessary data to our backend server:
- For title generation: the page title and a short summary of the page (the summary is produced on your device from the page content; the full page text is not sent).
- For clustering: the titles and summaries of your saved bookmarks that you choose to cluster.
- Personalization: To show your bookmark list, category order, and usage statistics (e.g., most visited, recently added) in your local dashboard.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Local Storage: Your bookmarks, summaries, category order, and usage statistics are stored only on your device using Chrome's extension local storage (chrome.storage.local). We do not maintain a central database of your bookmarks.
- Data Sent to Our Server: Content sent to our backend (title and summary for title generation, or bookmark titles and summaries for clustering) is used only to perform the requested AI task. We do not retain this content on our servers after the response is sent.
- Data Security: We use reasonable measures to protect your information. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
5. Sharing of Information (Third Parties)
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable information to outside parties, except as described below:
- Our Backend and AI Providers: To provide AI features (title generation and category clustering), the extension sends the data described in Section 3 (e.g., page title and summary, or bookmark titles and summaries) to our backend server. Our server uses third-party AI services (e.g., OpenAI) to process this data and return results. Data sent to those providers is processed according to their respective data use and privacy policies (e.g., OpenAI's API data usage policy: https://openai.com/policies/api-data-usage-policy). We do not send your identity, email, or account information; only the content needed for the AI task is transmitted.
6. Data Retention
- On Your Device: Your bookmarks, settings, and usage statistics remain in Chrome's extension local storage as long as the extension is installed. You can delete individual bookmarks or all data from within the extension. If you uninstall the extension, all locally stored data is removed by Chrome.
- On Our Servers: We do not retain the content you send for title generation or clustering after the response is delivered.
7. Your Rights
Because your data is stored locally on your device:
- Access and Control: You can view, edit, reorder, and delete bookmarks and categories in the extension. You can also clear all data by uninstalling the extension.
- Data Portability: Your bookmarks and settings are stored in your browser; you can use the extension's "Import Chrome bookmarks" and manage data within the extension as needed.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
