SEASON 2: 2018-2019

Come as you are! At each event, we serve refreshments or a meal, and Around Hear violin and piano students perform. Audience drawing, writing, and movement are welcome and encouraged. Concerts are free unless otherwise noted.

Events happen at the Mystic Activity Center, 530 Mystic Avenue, Somerville, MA 02145.

Saturday, October 27, 2018, 11 am

Selections from Cello Suite in G Major – J.S. BACH; Sonata for Violin and Piano, K. 526 – W.A. MOZART ; "Owl and the Moon" for clarinet, violin, cello, piano, narrator & puppets (a musical setting of Arnold Lobel's children's story) – MARJI GERE; selections from the American Songbook, featuring the art of ballroom dance, then...EVERYONE dance! Lunch to follow.

Selected bassoon duos; a world premiere for violin, piano & spoken word – TAMARA PLUMMER, MARJI GERE & DAN SEDGWICK; storytelling from English language learners from THE WELCOME PROJECT; and Piano Trio No. 4 "Dumky", Op. 90 – ANTONÍN DVOŘÁK. Reception following.

Music for violin & piano – J.S. BACH & DMITRI SHOSTAKOVICH; "Living Newspaper: Sidewalk Ballet", a toy theater piece featuring Jane Jacobs, and Robert Moses in miniature debating public space for the common good versus the greater good; sung to music by Frank London, and Woody Guthrie's "Holy Ground". Coffee, cocoa, tea, & goodies served.
