Prof. Dr. Arne Johannssen

I am Professor of Statistics & Data Analytics at Harz University of Applied Sciences, Germany. My research and teaching focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Computational Statistics, Explainable AI and Statistical Learning with applications in Business, Industry and Medicine.

My work combines methodological research with real-world applications. I develop interpretable and trustworthy AI methods for anomaly detection, process optimization and decision support in areas such as smart manufacturing, medical diagnostics, early disease detection, finance and business analytics. Current research applications include Bitcoin and carbon price forecasting, claims reserving, early identification of chronic kidney disease and human-centered AI in Industry 5.0.

My research has been published in leading international journals and is supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG). I collaborate closely with academic and industry partners to translate data-driven research into practical impact.
