Unless you already have previous road racing experience, everyone starts their racing at AMP by attending a drivers school.
ARMS (which is the governing body of amateur motor sport within Atlantic Canada) schools are run by member clubs. Each year ARMS offers at least one school at AMP, two if there is demand. If you miss the first school, do not hesitate to contact us to make alternate arrangements.
You can find an application form for the school on the ARMS website when it is published. The 1st school is normally the same weekend as the 1st race in May. The student is responsible for providing their car as well as their helmet for these schools - in the first part of the school a street car can be used (helps to have a passengers seat for the instructor), then later in the day a race car can be used.
There are many accepted Road Racing schools throughout North America. If you have completed one, that will likely be accepted, so please contact us.
Cost of the May school is $400, and this includes a novis race licence and your entry for the May race weekend. After about 3 races, you will likely be signed off for a full licence, which cost $110.
UPDATE: if you are a racer in another series (like Oval Track racing), you can make a request to the Race Director to obtain a licence without having to take a school. This will be dealt with on a case by case basis.
