November 15 - 16, 2021

International Workshop on Adaptation Research for Climate Change in Asia (ARCC2021)

Online

The impacts of climate change are already beginning to emerge as extreme events become more severe and frequent in all regions of the world. In the recently published IPCC Sixth Assessment Report, Working Group I has highlighted that heavy precipitation will increase over much of Asia and sea levels will continue to rise. In order to implement climate change adaptations against such extreme events, regional projections and detailed impact assessments are essential.

Thus, the “International Workshop on Adaptation Research for Climate Change in Asia (ARCC2021)” will be an opportunity to share knowledge, perceptions, and thoughts acquired during large-scale research projects focusing on climate change adaptation for East Asian countries, particularly those of Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, which share similar climatic conditions. In addition, we will share examples of regional climate change projections, impact assessments, and adaptation studies, including those of Southeast Asia.

Through this workshop, we aim to issue a joint statement on climate change adaptation by the participating groups and their respective countries to the larger research community and general public.

Presentation registration is due on October 28
