The Accessible Routes in Amsterdam competition pertains to multi-objective route planning for people with limited mobility, such as wheelchair users, on real-world maps in (parts of) Amsterdam. The overall goal is to help people with various different accessibility needs to find a suitable route that corresponds to their needs and preferences. A toy example of such solutions and the corresponding trade-offs are shown in Figure below.
This competition is organised in the context of the European PEER project, and includes organisers from the municipality of Amsterdam. The maps/graphs are based on real-world data and were created by the municipality of Amsterdam, using various techniques including point-cloud based obstacle and width measurements and recognising suitable crossings from satellite imagery (Link1, Link2). The competition focuses on key AI components of an accessible route planner, and its results may be used (attributed of course) in a demonstrator for accessible route planning. The competition is run open-source, and has two tracks based on desirable use-cases for accessible route planning.
The competition includes two tracks:
Track 1: The budgeted Pareto-front Finding.
Track 2: Maximum Expected Utility.
