About the Session
The forensic science landscape is rapidly evolving with the integration of audio, speech, and signal processing technologies. From criminal investigations to legal proceedings, audio-based evidence such as voice recordings, spectrographic analysis, surveillance audio, and speech from social media is increasingly central to forensic inquiry. Advancements in artificial intelligence and signal processing have made it possible to detect tampering, identify speakers, enhance low quality recordings, and reconstruct acoustic environments. However, forensic applications pose unique challenges ensuring robustness, explainability, and legal admissibility under adversarial conditions.
This special session aims to bring together leading researchers and forensic practitioners to discuss the latest breakthroughs, datasets, ethical considerations, and real-world deployments of signal processing techniques in forensic investigations.
