As a number of researches show, the diversity is one of the most important key to innovation. However, today's software engineering community still lack the diversity in various aspects; gender, culture, nationality, etc. To tackle this issue, we hold a workshop on diversity, titled "Asia-Pacific Software Engineering and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (APSEDEI).
Our objective is discussing DE&I in software engineering; sharing the real situation of DE&I, clarifying the issues, and discussing possible solutions to the DE&I issues in software engineering.
Our other objective is discussing software engineering for DE&I; sharing new ideas and trials of applying software engineering techniques to solve DE&I issues and discussing a new direction of software engineering research to solve DE&I issues in society.
Based on above mentioned goals, the followings are expected topics, but are not limited to;
Diversity, equity, and inclusion in the software engineering research community
Diversity, equity, and inclusion in activities related to software engineering practice
Diversity, equity, and inclusion in the software engineering education
Empirical studies to understand the impact of diversity, equity, and inclusion in activities related to software engineering
Experience reports of initiatives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in activities related to software architecture
Application of software engineering techniques to solve issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Issues of software engineering techniques in the view of diversity, equity, and inclusion
Intended audiences are both researchers and practitioners who are interested in the DE&I issue. We welcome students also. We expect around 15 participants.
We invite position papers describing studies, challenges, and experiences regarding the diversity. We welcome position papers describing emerging ideas as well as papers describing solid results of studies and/or surveys.
Submission categories are as follows:
Research Papers : maximum of eight pages, including figures, references, and appendices.
Short Papers: maximum of four pages, including figures and references.
All submissions must be in English, and must come in A4 paper size PDF format and conform, at time of submission, to the IEEE Conference Proceedings Formatting Guidelines (title in 24pt font and full text in 10pt font, LaTeX users must use \documentclass[10pt, conference]{IEEEtran} without including the compsoc or compsocconf option).
