Today marks the beginning of my unforgettable journey as part of the SEA-Teacher Exchange Program. As soon as we landed at Semarang Airport, I could already feel the warmth of Indonesia—not just from the climate, but from the people as well.
We were graciously welcomed by Ms. Uswatun Khasanah and Ms. Angel, two representatives from Universitas Muria Kudus (UMK). Despite the long travel hours and exhaustion from the flight, their friendly smiles and hospitality instantly made us feel at home. They greeted us with kindness and enthusiasm, and it was clear that they were genuinely happy to receive us.
Their treatment was exceptional—they made sure we were comfortable, assisted us with our luggage, and patiently guided us through our first steps in a foreign country. Their accommodation and support were beyond expectations, and it gave me a great sense of relief and excitement for what’s to come in the following days.
This warm welcome reminded me that this program is not just about teaching; it's also about cultural exchange, friendship, and building connections that transcend borders.
As we left the airport and began our journey to the university, I felt grateful and hopeful. The first impression was more than welcoming—it was inspiring.
Reflection:
Today reminded me how far kindness and hospitality can go in making someone feel truly valued. I’m excited for the experiences that await and am looking forward to embracing every moment of this exchange.
