Privacy Policy
Last Updated: March 23, 2026
AppLock ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use AppLock (the "App").
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully before using the App. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information Stored Locally on Your Device
AppLock is designed with a privacy-first approach. All data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. This includes:
- Passcode: Your 4-digit passcode is stored as a salted SHA-256 hash in the device Keychain. We never store or have access to your actual passcode.
- App Lock Settings: Your locked app selections, scene modes, scheduled plans, and preferences are stored in local storage (App Group UserDefaults).
- Intrusion Photos: Photos captured during failed unlock attempts are stored locally on your device in the App Group shared container.
- Biometric Data: Face ID and Touch ID authentication is handled entirely by the iOS system (LocalAuthentication framework). We never access or store your biometric data.
1.2 Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect any personal information
- We do not collect your location
- We do not access your contacts, photos, or other personal data
- We do not collect device identifiers or advertising IDs
- We do not collect usage analytics or crash reports
- We do not transmit any data to external servers
2. How We Use Your Information
Since all data remains on your device, we use your information solely to:
- Provide core app functionality (locking and unlocking apps)
- Verify your identity via passcode or biometrics
- Store your preferences and settings locally
- Capture intrusion detection photos (stored locally only)
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not share, sell, rent, or disclose any of your personal information to third parties. Since we do not collect any data, there is nothing to share.
4. Third-Party Services
AppLock uses the following Apple system frameworks. These frameworks operate entirely on your device and do not transmit data to us:
- FamilyControls / ManagedSettings: Used to manage app restrictions via Screen Time. Operates under Apple's privacy controls.
- LocalAuthentication: Used for Face ID / Touch ID verification. Biometric data is managed by iOS and never accessible to us.
- UserNotifications: Used to deliver local notifications for the quick unlock feature. Notifications are generated and delivered locally.
AppLock does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
5. Data Storage and Security
- Storage Location: All data is stored exclusively on your device. No cloud storage or server-side storage is used.
- Encryption: Your passcode is protected using SHA-256 hashing with a random salt, stored in the iOS Keychain.
- App Group Container: Settings and intrusion photos are stored in a sandboxed App Group container accessible only to AppLock and its extensions.
- No Account System: AppLock does not require registration or login. There are no user accounts.
6. Your Rights
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control:
- Access: All your data is on your device and accessible through the App.
- Deletion: Uninstalling AppLock removes all associated data from your device.
- Passcode Reset: You can reset your passcode through the security question or recovery key feature within the App.
7. Children's Privacy
AppLock may be used by parents to manage children's device usage. However, the App itself does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). Since no data is collected or transmitted, children's privacy is inherently protected.
8. Camera Usage
AppLock uses the device camera solely for the Intrusion Detection feature. When enabled, the front camera captures a photo upon failed passcode attempts. These photos are:
- Stored locally on your device only
- Never uploaded or transmitted anywhere
- Deletable at any time through the App's Security Logs
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
