An award sometimes called a distinction, is given to a recipient as a token of recognition of excellence in a certain field.[1][2] When the token is a medal, ribbon or other item designed for wearing, it is known as a decoration.

The recipient is often an individual, such as a student or athlete, or a representative of a group of people, be it an organisation, a sports team or a whole country. The award item may be a decoration or an insignia suitable for wearing, such as a medal, badge, or rosette (award). Award Criteria

The award criteria focus on the drivers and indicators of resilience and long-term success and are derived from the content and concepts found in the Baldrige Excellence Framework and literature on organizational resilience. These include leadership and strategy; planning and preparation; operations and business continuity; workforce, customer, and community engagement; and financial performance.

The amount of a full-time Segal AmeriCorps Education Award is equivalent to the maximum value of the Pell Grant for the fiscal year in which the term of national service is approved. The amount of the Pell Grant can change each year. Therefore, the amount of a full-time award can change. Once an individual earns an award, the dollar amount of that award will not change. The award amount varies based on the term of service completed.

Each term of service for which an individual earns an education award counts as one term of service in computing the term limitations. This includes terms for which a member earns a full-time, half-time, and any other type part-time or prorated education award. A prorated education award is an award that may be earned when an individual, for reasons beyond his or her control, cannot complete the entire service period. Generally, if a member is released before completing a term of service and does not receive the education award, that term counts as one of the terms served.

This award is named after Pura Belpr, the first Latina librarian at the New York Public Library. The Pura Belpr Award, established in 1996, is presented annually to a Latino/Latina writer and illustrator whose work best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth. It is co-sponsored by the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) and the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), divisions of the American Library Association (ALA), and REFORMA, the National Association to Promote Library and Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish-Speaking, an ALA affiliate.

The award is named after Pura Belpr, the first Latina librarian at the New York Public Library. As a children's librarian, storyteller, and author, she enriched the lives of Puerto Rican children in the U.S.A. through her pioneering work of preserving and disseminating Puerto Rican folklore.

Rosen Publishing has released a beautiful publication that pays tribute to the Pura Belpr Award in honor of the award's 20th anniversary. This publication features book covers, synopses, an introduction written by Oralia Garza de Corts and Sandra Ros Balderrama, co-founders of the award and a lovely collection of essays from previous and present award recipients that convey the significance of the award for each winner.

The Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award recognizes an NFL player for his excellence on and off the field. The award was established in 1970. It was renamed in 1999 after the late Hall of Fame Chicago Bears running back, Walter Payton. Each team nominates one player who has had a significant positive impact on his community.

The winner of the award each year receives a $250,000 donation to the charity of his choice. All 32 nominees receive up to a $55,000 donation to their charity of choice. All donations are courtesy of the NFL Foundation and Nationwide.

Established in 1986, the Governor's Historic Preservation Awards is California's only state-sponsored awards program and seeks to recognize community-centered, often grass-roots efforts going on throughout California to preserve our collective heritage.
