Title: Customer Perceptions of Sustainable Brands in Selected Ecotourism Amenities in Lake Sebu, Philippines
Abstract
In the ecotourism industry, understanding consumer perceptions is vital for the success and resilience of sustainable travel experiences. This study aims to explore consumer perceptions of sustainable brands in selected ecotourism amenities in Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, focusing on perceived value, service quality, and pricing. Employing a quantitative, multi-variable correlational approach, specifically adopting a descriptive-correlational design, the study utilized a questionnaire for data collection through convenience sampling. Results indicate that service quality emerges as the most influential factor affecting customers’ perceptions (M = 4.345098). Notably, service quality and pricing, with higher beta values, exert a more substantial influence on overall consumer perception compared to perceived value. These insights offer actionable guidance for stakeholders, underscoring the importance of prioritizing and enhancing service quality and pricing strategies. This strategic focus is crucial for aligning with consumer expectations and cultivating positive perceptions within Lake Sebu's ecotourism sector, contributing to a resilient and thriving industry.
Title: Who Reaps the Benefits? A Review of the Effects of the Rice Tariffication Law on Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture in the Philippines
Abstract
The Rice Tariffication Law (RTL) has significantly reshaped the Philippine rice sector, influencing food security, agricultural sustainability, and farmer livelihoods. This systematic review, conducted using the PRISMA framework, synthesizes 17 studies to evaluate the economic, policy, and agricultural implications of RTL. Findings reveal that while RTL stabilized consumer rice prices and increased market efficiency, it also resulted in income losses for rice farmers due to lower farm gate prices and intensified competition from imported rice. The review highlights the mixed outcomes of RTL, where government assistance programs, such as the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF), provided financial support but were hindered by bureaucratic inefficiencies and uneven distribution. Additionally, RTL’s long-term effects on food security remain uncertain, as increased dependence on rice imports raises concerns about agricultural resilience. Policy recommendations include enhancing government support mechanisms for farmers, refining subsidy allocation, strengthening domestic rice production, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices to mitigate RTL’s negative impacts. A balanced approach is needed to maintain consumer benefits while ensuring the sustainability of local rice production and farmer livelihoods.
Title: Governance and Transparency in Sovereign Wealth Funds: A Systematic Review of Global Practices and Policy Insights for the Maharlika Investment Fund in the Philippines
Abstract
The study systematically reviews the governance and transparency frameworks of sovereign wealth funds (SWFs), identifying key themes, best practices, and governance challenges. By synthesizing empirical findings, the research examines the relationship between governance mechanisms, financial performance, and risk management across different global SWFs. A comparative analysis of the Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF) and established international SWFs reveals significant governance gaps, including weak oversight, political influence, and limited disclosure mechanisms. Findings suggest that well-governed SWFs demonstrate higher financial stability, public trust, and long-term investment performance, whereas governance weaknesses contribute to financial volatility and inefficiencies. The study highlights the need for stronger regulatory safeguards, independent oversight bodies, and enhanced transparency measures for the MIF to align with international best practices. Recommendations include legislative reforms to insulate decision-making from political influence, the establishment of an independent sovereign investment board, and the implementation of standardized disclosure policies. Strengthening governance structures will be essential for ensuring the MIF’s financial sustainability and credibility. This research provides evidence-based insights for policymakers seeking to enhance sovereign fund management and improve financial governance in emerging economies.
Title: Assessing Young Professionals' Awareness and Perceptions of AI-Powered Personalized Product Recommendations and Data Privacy Concerns on Online Shopping Platforms
Abstract
The increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in personalized product recommendations has improved user experience in e-commerce. However, concerns about data privacy and transparency persist, affecting consumer trust. This study examines young professionals’ awareness, perceptions, and data privacy concerns regarding AI-powered recommendations in Koronadal City. It also explores the relationship between awareness and perceptions, with privacy concerns as a mediating factor.
Using a descriptive-correlational research design, data were collected through a validated questionnaire and analyzed using frequency distribution, weighted mean, and Pearson correlation analysis. Results indicate that while respondents acknowledge the benefits of AI-driven recommendations, they also express strong concerns about data security and transparency. A significant positive correlation (r = 0.935, p < 0.01) was found between awareness and perceptions. The findings emphasize the need for ethical AI practices, user control, and transparency to enhance consumer trust. Future research should explore strategies for addressing privacy concerns.
Title: Exploring the Nexus between Social Media Engagement and Academic Performance among Bachelor of Elementary Education Students
Abstract
This research investigates the impact of social media usage on the academic performance of Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) students at Green Valley College Foundation, Inc. Social media platforms have become incredibly widespread in recent years, which provides educational institutions and students with both opportunities and challenges. The research employs a quantitative approach, utilizing survey methodology to gather data from a sample of BEED students at Green Valley College. Through statistical analysis, the study explores correlations between social media usage patterns, such as frequency, duration, and types of engagement, and its effect on academic performance of the student. Findings indicate that, while social media provides avenues for communication and learning, excessive usage correlates with lower academic performance due to distractions and time management issues. Recommendations based on the research emphasize the need for balanced usage strategies and awareness among BEED students of Green Valley College Foundation, Inc., to maximize the benefits of social media while mitigating its potential negative impacts on academic success.
