Immigration Reform

“We desperately need comprehensive immigration reform in this nation, and yes, comprehensive immigration reform proposals are nuanced and complicated, but you know what shouldn't be? Our capacity to see each other's humanity.”

-Ayanna Pressley

We must reinstate and expand DACA and develop a humane policy for those seeking asylum. Abolish ICE and CBP and redistributing their functions to their proper authorities. End cruel and inhumane deportation programs and detention centers. Welcome refugees and those seeking asylum.

A mixture of bureaucracy, lengthy wait times, and ridiculous standards for immigration is pushing people to sit and wait for 15-20 years. This pressure is significantly higher for those escaping war, famine, or violence. We have a humanitarian necessity to make this process be completable within reasonable amount of time. We can do all of this without putting the nation's safety at risk. Many come to this country without documentation in order to protect and provide for their loved ones. By understanding their struggle, rather than criminalizing them, we can solve many of the problems we see in our immigration systems today. We can create a system that maintains safety while also maintaining the dignity and life of the people.
