1. INTRODUCTION

Welcome to API Scout ("the App", "we", "our"). API Scout is a professional API testing client that allows you to construct, send, and inspect HTTP and WebSocket requests directly from your mobile device.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and your rights with respect to that information. Please read this document carefully before using the App.

By installing or using API Scout you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the App.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

API Scout is designed to operate entirely on your device. We do not operate servers that receive your personal data.

2.1 Data You Enter

The App stores the following data locally on your device only:

Request URLs, HTTP methods, headers, query parameters, and body content that you enter while building requests.
Collections and saved requests you choose to save.
Request history automatically recorded after each sent request.
Environment variable sets (names and values) you create.
App preferences (e.g. screen keep-on setting) stored via the device's local SharedPreferences.

None of this data is transmitted to our servers or any third party by the App itself.

2.2 Network Traffic You Initiate

When you tap "Send", the App connects directly from your device to the URL you specified. That network request travels over your internet connection and is governed by the privacy policy of the server you are contacting — not by this policy. API Scout does not proxy, log, or intercept those requests on our end.

2.3 Crash and Diagnostics Data

The App does not integrate any third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK. No telemetry is collected or sent to us automatically.

2.4 Device Permissions

The App may request the following permissions:

INTERNET — required to send HTTP/WebSocket requests that you initiate.
WAKE_LOCK — used for the optional "Keep screen on" feature so the screen does not turn off during long-running requests.
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / READ_MEDIA_* — used only when you explicitly choose a file to attach as a multipart upload.

We do not access your contacts, camera, microphone, location, or any other sensitive device resource.

3. HOW WE USE INFORMATION

Because all data is stored locally on your device, we do not "use" your data in the traditional sense. The data you enter is used solely to provide the functionality of the App on your device:

To construct and send the API requests you configure.
To save and recall your collections, history, and environments.
To persist your preferences between sessions.

4. DATA SHARING AND DISCLOSURE

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your data with any third parties, because we never receive it in the first place.

The only exception is the network traffic you deliberately send to external servers using the App. That communication is between your device and the server at the URL you entered; we have no involvement in or knowledge of it.

5. DATA RETENTION AND DELETION

All data (collections, history, environments, preferences) is stored in your device's local app storage.

To delete individual items: use the delete options within the App (swipe to delete requests, delete collections, clear history).
To delete all App data: uninstall the App, or use your device's "Clear App Data" option in Android Settings → Apps → API Scout → Storage → Clear Data.

We have no ability to delete data on your behalf because it never reaches us.

6. SECURITY

Data stored by the App resides in the Android or iOS app sandbox, which is protected by the operating system's security model and is not accessible to other apps without root access. We recommend keeping your device OS up to date and using a device screen lock to protect your saved credentials and tokens.

If you store sensitive tokens, API keys, or credentials in environments or request headers, be aware that they are stored as plain text in the app sandbox. Do not use API Scout on a device you do not trust.

7. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

API Scout is a technical developer tool intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 is using the App, please contact us and we will provide guidance on removing the app and its local data.

8. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document and, for material changes, notify users within the App (e.g. on first launch after an update).

Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
