Respawn has mentioned cross-progression in Apex Legends on several occasions, and it's looking increasingly likely that the game will include cross-progression in the future to make switching between platforms easier for gamers.
Game director Chad Grenier provided an update on the potential of cross-progression following the earlier announcement of apex patch notes release on Nintendo Switch.
“I wouldn't say [cross-progression] is impossible, but adding cross-progression to a game that's been out for two years is obviously more difficult. Many people have accounts on many platforms, and determining the optimal approach to choose or integrate account data is a problem with numerous benefits and drawbacks. We're definitely looking on cross-progression, and it's something I believe would be fantastic for the game, but it'll most likely take a while.”
Chad Grenier addressed cross-progression once more during a developer session in April 2021. “I'm a big fan of cross-play, which is why we included it. Another area of interest for me is cross-progression, which we currently do not support.
“However, we're working on it.” It's a lot more effort than I anticipated. However, we're working on cross-progression, which will allow users to carry over their purchases, skins, and account progress between platforms. It'll probably take a bit longer, but we'll get there eventually.
“We hear you, and know that people want it,” Respawn Design Director Jason ‘Monsterclip' McCord said in November 2020 in response to a request for it. I'd want that as well. Sorry, we can't speak about anything that hasn't been announced yet.”
Respawn Entertainment has announced that the upcoming Apex Legends Collection Event will be called Genesis and will mark the return of Kings' Canyon, following several speculations and conjecture.
Aside from the reintroduction of the map and new aesthetics, the battle royale will see several adjustments, including the balancing of a number of weapons as well as a number of legend tweaks.
Wattson will get a meme bonus, which will let her to put down more Nessie toys, as part of the announced updates. While some fans found it amusing, others did not, and they soon expressed their disappointment at the absence of genuine change.
Given that Respawn previously said that the legend will not be enhanced anytime soon, several fans characterized the adjustment as a "troll" and "insult" from them.
It wasn't long until the Apex Legends team reacted, confirming that they're looking into making some adjustments to Wattson, but it's a fine line to tread.
Respawn's Daniel Klein stated, "Yeah, we're working on something." “There's no ETA because it's very early in development, but aims would be to make playing Wattson more enjoyable and stronger in the moment while reducing some of the invisible power (because, as I've said before, Wattson has a VERY high win rate).”
Wattson's 'invisible power,' as stated by Respawn, pertains to how her powers cause you to change your gameplay. If you modify your path because you notice a fence down, the Wattson has influenced you without really causing damage.
It's a line for Respawn to navigate, but Wattson fans will be hoping they figure out some significant adjustments as quickly as possible.
