Apex Habits ("we," "us," or "our") is built with a privacy-first design. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal data of our users. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, and protect your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").

1. Privacy-First Principle & Local Storage

All your personal logs and inputs are stored locally on your device by default. We do not run server-side databases for your personal data, we do not collect your personal data on our servers, and we do not have access to your personal files.

• Habit & Task Tracking: Habit names, frequency schedules, check-in history, streaks, and categories are saved entirely offline.

• Mood Tracking: Daily mood selections, notes, activity tags, and statistics remain local.

• Financial Planning: Expense entries, categories, limits, budgets, and bank account names are saved locally.

• Diary Data: Written journals and custom tags are stored offline on your device using secure SQLite databases.

Information We DO NOT Collect:

• We do not require you to create an account or provide an email address to use the App.

• We do not collect your name, phone number, or any other contact information.

• We do not track your precise location or GPS data.

• We do not access your contacts, call logs, or SMS messages.

• We do not serve third-party advertisements or use advertising IDs for tracking.

2. Analytics and Crash Reporting (Automatically Collected Data)

To improve the App's stability and performance, we use third-party services, specifically Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics. These services collect non-personal, anonymous data automatically:

• Crash Reports: If the App crashes, an anonymous error log is generated (containing the stack trace, device model, and operating system version) to help us identify and fix technical bugs.

• App Usage Data: Basic analytics (such as which screens are visited and session lengths) help us understand how the App is used so we can improve the user experience.

• General Location: Approximate location (e.g., city or country level) based on IP address.

Important: This automated data is strictly used for technical and performance improvements. It is never linked to your personal habits, finances, or diary logs, which remain completely private and on your device. By using the App, you consent to the processing of this data by Google as outlined in the Google Privacy Policy.

3. Media, Camera, Microphone, & Audio Processing

Apex Habits requests specific permissions to enable features on your device. Any information accessed remains strictly local:

• Microphone Access (RECORD_AUDIO): Used solely to record private voice notes in the Diary section of the App. The recorded files are stored directly in your phone's secure local documents directory. We do not listen to, collect, monitor, upload, or share your voice recordings.

• Camera Access (CAMERA): Used solely to capture photos directly within the App to attach them to your private Diary entries. The captured photos are saved inside your device's secure local storage.

• Attached Images: Photos attached to your diary entries are stored inside your device's persistent storage. We do not upload or access them.

4. Google Drive Integration (Optional Cloud Backup)

The App offers an optional Cloud Backup and Restore feature using Google Drive. If you choose to enable this:

• AppData Folder Scope (drive.appdata): We request read and write access strictly to a hidden application data folder inside your Google Drive account.

• Limited Access: We ONLY access the specific backup files created by Apex Habits (the database, audio notes, and attached photos). We DO NOT access, read, view, or modify any other folders, documents, or settings in your Google Drive.

• Credential Safety: Authentication is managed directly by the official Google Sign-In SDK. We do not store or see your Google password.

• Opt-In Feature: This backup mechanism is completely optional and user-triggered.

5. Device Permissions Requested

To deliver core offline functionality, the App requests the following permissions. None of the data accessed via these permissions is ever sent to us or any third party:

• Camera (CAMERA): To capture photos directly from the App to attach to your private diary entries.

• Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO): To record voice entries in your private diary.

• Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): To send routine reminders on your device.

• Alarms & Reminders (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM, USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT): To trigger notifications precisely on time to help you build habits.

• Biometric Lock (USE_BIOMETRIC, USE_FINGERPRINT): To allow you to lock your app securely using your device's native biometric hardware. (We never collect or store your biometric data; authentication is handled locally by the OS).

6. Data Deletion & Retention

You have absolute ownership and control over your data:

• App Uninstallation: Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all local databases, voice recordings, and images from your device.

• Cloud Backup Deletion: You can delete your backup files directly from inside the App, from your Google Drive settings, or by disconnecting Apex Habits from your Google Account settings.

7. Children's Privacy

Apex Habits is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. Since the App operates offline, we do not store children's data on any external servers.

8. GDPR & CCPA Compliance

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and California:

• You have the right to access, export, modify, or permanently delete your data. You can perform all of these actions directly inside the App by reviewing, editing, or erasing your entries, or by uninstalling the App.

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. When changes are made, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the modified policy.
