This course is designed for students to develop the strategies and skills necessary for effective oral presentations. Guidance is provided from the preparatory right up to the final stage of delivery. The course focuses on oral communication theory and practice with emphasis on the importance of verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Learning takes place through a variety of activities to enhance learners’ ability to use the correct language for a presentation, to exploit a variety of materials and sources, and to use visual aids appropriately in oral presentations. In tandem, students will be exposed to basic computer skills as speech activities are to be recorded and uploaded using a variety of formats. Upon completion of the course, students will develop skills to confidently and competently participate in speech communication activities.
