Throughout the 500 years of its existence the tranquility and calm of the abbey was often disrupted by its fair share of natural disasters, including Fire, Flood and Plague. Combine all that with times of dissent and bloody violence and you have a rich story book of tales to bring to life as we examine the turbulent side of the abbey’s history.
The Dark Side of the Abbey runs from July to September. Tours start at 11.00am from the Cathedral Tourist Information Point on Angel Hill, and last 90 minutes. They are in English and are suitable for all ages and abilities.
Tickets are £7 for adults (Accompanied U16s free) and can be booked online or purchased at the Cathedral Tourist Information Point.
