Summit of Mount Dana, July 2022
Hello! My name is Anya Gupta.
I am a Masters student in the Virginia Tech Department of Geosciences, in Dr. Steve Holbrook's critical zone geophysics group. I am currently working with ground penetrating radar and seismic refraction data to image the subsurface roots of giant sequoias in Yosemite's Mariposa Grove. I am interested in the interplay between geophysics, igneous petrology, and hydrology to illustrate what is happening in a landscape at the microscopic to macroscopic levels. My passions lie in public-facing science communication work, environmental and earth science education, and excellence in field and lab techniques.
I completed my undergraduate BS degrees in Earth-Climate Science (Geology Conc.) and Environmental Science, with a Hindi minor, at Duke University in December 2023. I am originally from the Bay Area, CA, and am an avid artist, ultra-endurance athlete, and peakbagger.
Feel free to reach me at anyagup@vt.edu!
