I am a Post Doctorate ZUKOnnect Fellow at the University of Konstanz, Germany, affiliated with the Department of Linguistics. I completed my PhD in Linguistics at the English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, India in Aug 2025, where I specialized in syntax with explorations in typology and language documentation.
My current research project, "Patterns in Ellipsis: Syntax, Variation, and Interpretive Mechanisms," investigates ellipsis and silence as structured linguistic strategies that shape human communication. Building on my doctoral work on sluicing in Hindi-Urdu and Bangla, I am comparing clausal ellipsis mechanisms across particularly Indo-Aryan and European Romance families, to uncover how geographic and cultural contexts influence linguistic economy.
A key component of my work focuses on computational modeling: ellipsis poses significant challenges to current NLP systems, and my documentation of typologically distinct ellipsis types can inform algorithms that better emulate human inferencing. Prior to my fellowship, I served as Guest Faculty at EFLU (November 2024 - August 2025), where I designed and delivered courses in linguistics, syntax, and semantics for 200+ students.
In addition to my expertise in linguistics, I have developed a few skills in data science, with a keen interest in exploring the functionalities of artificial intelligence within elliptical constructions, and I hope to leverage the same to enhance human-technology interaction.
Beyond academics, you may catch me with a paintbrush in hand, engrossed in a good read, or trying to take a picture of the night sky.
