Antonio Scognamillo Ph.D., is an Economist in the Agrifood Economics and Policy Division of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). He leads a broad portfolio of macro- and micro-level analyses within the Policy Reform, Intelligence, Monitoring, and Evaluation (PRIME) pillar of the division. His work focuses on agricultural economics, inequality, poverty, food security, and resilience to multiple shocks.
Within this framework, Antonio designs rigorous experimental and quasi-experimental tools to evaluate the impact of policies, investments, and technologies. He complements these insights with additional experimental evidence to elicit stakeholder preferences across the agrifood value chains — ultimately supporting the development of effective and scalable interventions. His expertise also includes the design and implementation of representative survey instruments.
Antonio has actively represented FAO in global fora, international conferences, policy dialogues and workshops. His research has been published in leading international peer-reviewed journals, including World Development, Food Policy, Environment and Development Economics, Empirical Economics, and the Journal of Peace Research, among others.
