Welcome to my website! I am a Senior Professor of Practice in the Department of Economics at Tulane University. Since earning my Ph.D. from Auburn University in 1994, I have built a diverse professional career that spans public service, consulting, and academia. From 1995 to 2001, I served as a public servant in my native Bolivia. Between 2001 and 2011, I worked as a development consultant across Latin America and Africa. Since 2011, I have been fully engaged in academic life. My teaching interests include macroeconomics, development economics, the economics of pandemics, and the emerging field of the economics of artificial intelligence. My research interests include applied macroeconomics and development, with a particular focus on the Bolivian economy and its evolution over time.
