In the summer of 2016, young bartender Arash Ghassemi became bar manager at Green Door in Berlin's bohemian Schöneberg district, a veteran "locals" spot that takes its drinking seriously. Owner and playwright Fritz Müller-Scherz opened the speakeasy - hidden behind a rudimentary green sign (and door!) - in 1995 to promote what he calls "the power of positive drinking", and Arash's complete dedication to the profession in addition to a healthy distance has provided new energy and a fresh approach.

To make Green Door a relevant Berlin destination for both locals and international bar enthusiasts again, Arash shortened the cocktail menu - which used to be known for being very long and classic - and added a modern touch. The kitschy interior of gingham wallpaper, 70s framed photos and the dog mascot that rests on the bar still remains the same.

At 19 years old, Arash moved to Berlin with his girlfriend and by chance he became bar manager at Berlin's Chapel Bar. Since then he's also been at other renowned Berlin hot spots like Bar am Lützowplatz and Schwarze Traube before taking over Green Door. Last year he entered one of the biggest cocktail competitions and ended up being among the top 16 in the global finals.

Join Green Door's Arash Ghassemi and Maria Gorbatschova at Reisen Bar for one night only of expertly created signature drinks featuring Hendrick's Gin.
