I have been involved with Scouting either as a youth, adult, volunteer or executive since I was six years old when my mom signed me up as a Tiger Cub. I am an Eagle Scout, Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow, and a good old Owl, too.
I credit much of my Scouting foundation to my involvement with Burlington Troop 50, and my Scoutmaster Steve Dow, who is Scoutmaster to this day.
Along the Scouting trail, I’ve volunteered on Action Alley staff at the National Scout Jamboree (2007), was one of three boys from Vermont to attend the World Scout Jamboree in Holland (1995), led my crew along the trails of Philmont (1993), and took my family to the Philmont Training Center.
When our son was just about old enough to be a Tiger Cub, my wife Nicole and I restarted a dying Cub Scout Pack in our neighborhood to become one of the most vibrant and active programs in our town. We left the Pack in good hands when we moved to Rochester and have since then joined Pack 166 where I am on the Pack committee, and Troop 166 in Macedon where I serve as an Assistant Scoutmaster. I am proud to share that my 5-year-old daughter – who also stars in one of our fall recruiting videos – can follow in her dad’s (and hopefully big brother’s) footsteps and become an Eagle Scout. Our 3-year-old son doesn’t have much of a choice in the matter.
When I am not Scouting, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading and collecting nautical fiction, being outdoors and grilling.
