Piaggio Aerospace wholly owned by Abu Dhabi state-owned Mubadala Development Company designs, develops, manufactures and maintains aircraft, aero-engines and aircraft structural components.

The Use of ANSYS SCADE to develop the P.1HH Vehicle Control & Management System (Integrated Modular Avionics System) greatly reduced development time and effort. A small engineering team modeled, verified, compiled and integrated 125,000 lines of code to control an unmanned aerial system in 18 months.

ANSYS + Altaeros

Altaeros Energies, Inc. develops commercial airborne wind turbines for applications in power generation, telecommunication, and technology enabled agricultural services.

Altaeros has developed a tethered aerial platform called the “SuperTower” as their first commercial product. Altaeros has used a model-based design approach to design the aerodynamics and control systems for stable flight at operating altitude, and during autonomous launch and recovery, even in extreme conditions. This has required high-fidelity modeling capability, including the development of an extensive aerodynamic database using ANSYS Fluent and leveraging ANSYS’ cloud partner, NIMBIX. Altaeros uses ANSYS Fluent to perform computational fluid dynamic (CFD) simulations.
