The iconic Casablanca is a perfect example of the right person, wrong time trope. Starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman as Rick and Ilsa with incredible chemistry. We find Rick, who has just come into possession of letters that will allow anyone to travel freely around Nazi-occupied Europe, running a caf in Casablanca.

Ilsa soon enters, with her husband in tow, and asks for the letters. Later, we learn that Rick and Ilsa had fallen in love in Paris previously when Ilsa believed her husband to be dead. Despite their admitted love for each other, it is impossible, and unsafe, for them to try and stay together. The final moments of the movie are painfully romantic and would be less so had they stayed together.

The Japanese animated movie Your Name, also known as Kimi No Na Wa, is one of director Makoto Shinkai's most famous works. When we are talking about movies that feature the right person at the wrong time, we can't NOT talk about a movie where the two protagonists are from different timelines altogether.

That's right, in this magically realistic body-swap romance, Mitsuya Miyamizu and Taki Tachibana often wake up in each other's bodies and start helping each other while also falling in love. There is just one problem, Taki belongs to the present timeline in 2016, while Mitsuya was a girl who lived in a village in 2013. The beautiful journey of these two will definitely bring a few tears into your eyes and the bittersweet ending will make you hope for a better future for them.

What if you met your soulmate, the love of your life, the person you think you can spend the rest of your life with, just the day before the apocalypse? That is exactly the kind of romance we get to see between Harry and Julie in the 1988 apocalyptic thriller Miracle Mile. This heartwarming movie which tells us how every passionate love story does not have a happy ending will definitely move you to tears. The talented actors Meryl Streep and Clint Eastwood play the roles of the two protagonists in a marvelous way that will surely touch your heart.

By chance, two married strangers, Laura and Alec, meet in a caf at a railway station. After this Brief Encounter, they continue to meet every Thursday, knowing that their love is impossible. Similarly to Before Sunrise, this plot may seem lacking in any real action, but the performances display such intense yet repressed emotion that it leaves the audience hanging on every word.

Although the love between Laura and Alec can never go further than a meeting in a caf, this movie remains one of the most passionate and evocative love stories that we have. The fact that they are both so fastidious in their morals makes you root for them to be together even more.

A lot of queer movies often tend to have unhappy endings to reflect the discrimination faced by queer people in reality. The Taiwanese drama Your Name Engraved Herein is such a movie. The two protagonists of the film A-han and Birdy, played by Edward Chen and Jing-hua Tseng are students at a Taiwanese all-boys Catholic school in the year 1987.

The movie mainly focuses on the two boys struggling with their identity as they are attracted to each other. The journey of these two adolescent boys through a homophobic school and society is heartbreaking and truly shows us how much effect surroundings can have on true love. When the two of them part ways due to Birdy's inability to give in to his desires due to fear of social stigma, our heart breaks a little. This movie also ends on a bittersweet note that is poignant enough to bring tears to your eyes.

How they act in Moulin Rouge may not be the best example, but this philosophy is. We were created for relationship. We were designed to love God and to be loved by Him, and in so doing, that love spills out and draws us closer to one another.

It stands out from other superhero movies which increasingly seem like a series of action sequences from a videogame.

Thor only grossed $449.3 million and was overshadowed by The Avengers which made just over $1 billion more. However, Marvel needs its human touch now more than ever as it has strayed so far into the cosmos that it seems to have lost sight of where it started. It is now common for Marvel movies to introduce new dimensions, let alone new planets, and secret identities have gradually crept in.

As we recently reported, the best performers can make billions of Dollars of profits so it's no surprise that Marvel is still flogging the same horse. However, it may need a change of direction if it wants to make its movies heavy hitters with critics again.
