Dr. Ankit Sharma is currently working at the Research, Innovation & Network (CURIN) Department of Chitkara University, Punjab, India. He currently holds an administrative position as Publisher/Head of International peer-reviewed Chitkara journals. His admiring communication and relationship-building capabilities have always focused on the progress of his organization. He received his doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Punjab, India. During his Ph.D., he worked on the major industries’ challenges during superior float glass machining. The sole purpose is to explore the health industries' applications of float glass’s blind hole such as sensor glass, microprocessor glass, decorative glass, biochip, and in other microelectronics. In the case of microfluidics bio-applications, blind holes act as a reservoir for the liquid (to trap liquid). The liquid/blood samples flow from this reservoir to the micro-channels for various kinds of bio lab-on-chip, and micro-reactors/mixers.

Where he proposed a solution by reducing the chipping and cracking produced during machining. First time in the scientific world, the chipping of glass has been characterized using a coordinate measuring machine. Also, multi-shaped tools have been developed to address this real-time glass machining. He was also awarded a best research paper award at an international problem for developing multiple abrasive-coated tools for making blank holes to address biomedical challenges.

Dr. Sharma is an enthusiastic teacher who embraces student-focused approaches in his teaching, providing real-time learning to his students. He is a passionate researcher with diversified research interests-smart manufacturing, biomedical devices, modern machining processes, additive manufacturing, tissue engineering, developing automated machines for health industries, and not limited to that. To date, he has published more than 55 scientific articles in various peer-reviewed reputed top-notch journals, conferences, and books in Manufacturing and Materials. 

Dr. Sharma is also organizing an international conference & serving as the General chair & Convenor of the International Conference on Emerging Materials, Smart Manufacturing, & Computational Intelligence (ICEMSMCI 2023) with publishing partners Springer, Taylor, and Francis, Inder Science, AIP Proceedings, and Bentham Science. He has also been the organizing committee member of the International Conference on the Advances in Materials and Manufacturing Technology-2022. He has chaired various international conferences in the domain of advanced manufacturing. He has delivered several seminars and keynote talks on international (USA, China, India) platforms and awarded with best research paper awards. 

He is currently doing consultancy with the medical industry by developing medical device manufacturing machines. He has also delivered numerous invited industrial keynotes while addressing various topics related to smart manufacturing.

Dr. Sharma is working on research commercialization and filed more than 30 patents. He also granted 4 international patents in his account along with 18+ granted patents. He contributed to interdisciplinary research, particularly where engineering and global burning issues related to the health, manufacturing, agriculture, and energy sectors intersect.

Dr. Sharma edited/authored 3 books, serving as a Series editor of Taylor and Francis books. He is also serving as a guest editor and Managing editor of international peer-reviewed Journals. 

He is also the reviewer board member of several international journals such as Measurement (Elsevier), Sage Part E, International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology (Springer), Silicon (Springer), and Sustainability (MDPI).
