Overview

• Notebooks in Evernote are used as vocabulary notebooks in this app. Individual notes in each Evernote notebook serve as vocabulary flash cards. Selected notebooks are called "workbooks" in the app.
• The title of each note in Evernote will be used as the front of the flash card. The contents of the note will be used as the back of the card.
• You can set your memory level to each note when you study the cards. As a guide, you should raise the memory level when you can give the correct answers instantly, and lower it when your answer is incorrect. You should leave the memory level as is if it takes some time to give the correct answers.
• Questions are asked repeatedly until you reach a certain memory level you specify. When you have reached the memory level, the card will be flagged as "learned." The "learned" questions will not be asked anymore. However, you are also able to study a set of only "learned" cards randomly for review.
• In addition to the memory level for "Learned" questions, you can also specify the interval days for questions to be asked again for each memory level.
• The app is also able to read aloud the question and the answer at the answer screen.
• Ankit only manages the memory level and flashing the questions. For creation and editing the note contents, please use Evernote.

How to Use

1. Creating Questions in Evernote

• Create notes with what you want to memorize in Evernote.
• Evernote notebooks will be sets of questions, so we recommend you to separate your notebooks based on what you want to study.

2. Settings and Study in Ankit

1. Log in to Evernote from the "Settings" screen and select Evernote notebooks you want to study.

• If Evernote's iPhone app is already installed and you are already logged-in in the app, the login information will be used in Ankit.
• This is the only way to login Evernote from Ankit with a Google account. If you are using a Google account to login Evernote, please follow this way.

2. The workbooks you selected are listed on the home screen. Please select a workbook you want to study.

3. You can configure the following study settings for each workbook:

• Maximum number of questions per trial
• Maximum number of unlearned questions per day
• Memory level for learned questions
• Interval days for the questions to be asked again for each memory level

4. Begin studying through "Start Studying". The questions will be selected automatically according to your study settings.

5. The memory level is set upon answering the questions. As a guide, you should raise the memory level by clicking OK when you can give the correct answers instantly, and lower it by clicking NG when your answer is incorrect. You should leave the memory level as is by clicking "On Hold" if it takes some time to give the correct answers.

6. You can also bookmark questions like you often fail to answer and review them all at once in "Review Bookmarked Questions".

7. In "Review Learned Questions", questions marked "learned" are asked in chronological order. If you answer NG, the question will be set unlearned and be asked in Studying again.

8. Questions and answers can also be read aloud on the answer screen.

Details: free version's limitations

• The free version has the following limitations: 1) Questions you can answer a day is limited to 50, 2) Advertisements are displayed.
• The limitations above will be removed by purchasing an upgrade license.

Details: memory level

• The memory level raises by one if you choose "OK" upon answering the question and lowers by one if you choose "NG". The memory level stays as is when choosing "On Hold".
• The questions will be asked again at regular intervals until the memory level raises to "Learned".
• About the memory level of the questions that have never been answered yet (unlearned questions): choosing "NG" and "Hold" will set the memory level to 0, and "OK" will set it to 1.

Precautions

• If you do not study every day, your study load will greatly increase the following day. In addition, the questions' interval days will grow and study efficiency will get lower. For that reason, we recommend you to complete your daily study every day.

FAQ

Can I login to Evernote using a Google Account?

If Evernote Corporation's Evernote app is installed and logged-in in the app, Ankit will use the login information of the app. This is the only way for you to login Evernote with a Google account in Ankit.

I am asked to login to App Store sometimes while using Ankit.

To check your license status, you need to login to App Store to use Ankit. Therefore, Ankit requests you to login App Store when you use Ankit without logging-in to App Store.

Does Ankit make any changes to the notes in Evernote?

Your study settings are saved in your Evernote notebook. Ankit creates a note like below in the notebook you are studying.

• Title: ANKIT_STUDYCONFIG
• Tags: Ankit:config
• Contents: Encoded study settings

This note is created in a studied notebook by Ankit, and will not be deleted even if the notebook is no longer studied. If you will not study the notebook again, please delete it yourself. Also, please do not change this note's title, tags or text. If changed, the study settings will be reset.

In addition, the title, content, attached file, etc. of the note used as a question will not be changed at all. However, to manage the memory level and make sets of questions, the following items of the notes are modified when answering:

• Last Modified
• Tag for Memory Level: Ankit:mLevel=[0-9]
• Tag for Bookmark: Ankit:bookmark

How do I use bookmarks?

You can review your bookmarked questions in "Review Bookmarked Questions". In "Review Bookmarked Questions", you can review the bookmarked questions but cannot answer them. The bookmarked questions are tagged with "Ankit:bookmark", so you can search them with this tag in Evernote.

Can I use Ankit offline?

Ankit cannot be used offline. Please make sure your device is online when you use Ankit. Also, when Evernote service is unavailable due to an issue on Evernote side, you cannot use Ankit either.

The question's numbers displayed are sometimes incorrect.

Ankit records the memory level information to the note in Evernote on answering. Evernote sometimes takes longer time to reflect it. This causes the wrong number display. Normally, this will be resolved soon as the reflection completes on Evernote side. Please wait for a while and check it again.

The questions and answers are sometimes read aloud incorrectly.

The reading functionality uses the iOS's reading functionality. If you set the language setting to "automatic recognition", the language recognition sometimes does not work properly and it causes incorrect reading.

What questions are used in "Review Learned Questions"?

Questions which are marked as "learned" and the specified number of days have passed since you last answered are used.

Can I use Ankit on multiple devices?

Ankit can be installed and used on multiple devices. However, it cannot be used at the same time with multiple devices. Also, please refrain from editing any Evernote notebooks while you are using Ankit as it may cause data inconsistencies.

I got an error message saying "Evernote processing limit". What should I do?

The number of requests Evernote can process from 3rd party applications has a maximum limit. When that limit is reached, you will get an error message of "Evernote processing limit". This restriction will be lifted in 1 hour, so please wait for a while. If you are in a hurry, it is not recommended though, you may re-login to Evernote to remove the restriction temporarily.
