📜 Privacy Policy for Ankhoret Scrolls

AnkhoretScrolls is an archive of ancient wisdom writing, and an archive is only worth keeping if it is private. What you read, what you keep, and what you write in the margins belongs to you and stays with you. This page explains, in plain terms, how information is handled inside the app.
🪶 General Information
This Privacy Policy applies to the AnkhoretScrolls mobile application (the "Application") created by the developer of AnkhoretScrolls (the "Service Provider"). The Application is provided "as is" and requires no account, no sign-in, and no email address in order to be used.
📖 Information Collection and Use
Everything the Application remembers is written to the storage area of your own device. This includes:
- Which passages you have opened, and how long each one stayed on screen;
- The passages you have kept, and the notes you write against them;
- The seals you have earned and the one pinned to the header;
- Your reading streak and the search queries you have committed;
- Reading size, haptics, motion, decan hour and reminder preferences.
The Application contains no networking code. There are no servers behind it, no accounts, and nothing you read or write is transmitted anywhere. The passage of the day is calculated on your device from the calendar date, which is why every reader sees the same one without anything being sent or received. The Application does not request your location, your photo library, your contacts, or your microphone, and does not ask for your name or email address.
🧩 Third-Party Access
There are no advertising networks, no analytics software, and no crash reporting or tracking components in the Application. No data is sold, rented, or shared for advertising, because no data leaves your device in the first place. If a future version ever adds a component of that kind, this policy will be revised before that version is released and will name the provider involved.
Limited disclosure could occur only where legally compelled:
- To comply with a lawful subpoena, court order, or legal process;
- To protect rights, safety, or prevent fraud;
- To cooperate with trusted service providers acting on behalf of the Service Provider under strict confidentiality.
📥 Import From the Previous Application
If the app this one replaces was installed on the same device, the Application performs a one-time local import at first launch. It reads only self-describing values saved by that app on your device: total reading time, whether onboarding had been completed, the reading font size, and recent search queries. Nothing is imported over a network, and the import runs at most once per installation. Favourites and progress from the old app are deliberately not imported, because their identifiers were regenerated on every launch and carrying them over would invent a reading history you never had.
🔔 Notifications
The evening reminder is switched off by default. If you enable it, the Application schedules a local notification through the operating system on your own device, and no notification content is sent to any server. If system permission is refused or later revoked, the setting returns to off rather than claiming something that cannot happen.
🔒 Data Retention and Deletion
Your reading records, notes, and seals remain on your device for as long as you keep them. The Service Provider holds no copy and therefore has nothing to retain, hand over, or lose. The Archive section of the settings can clear your reading history and start the collection over. Removing the Application from your device deletes the whole local archive. Both actions are permanent, so copy anything you wish to keep beforehand. Questions about data stored on your device can be sent to camandante2009@gmail.com, and requests are answered within a reasonable period.
🧒 Children's Privacy
AnkhoretScrolls is not intended for children under 13. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect or store personal information from children, and the Application collects no personal information from any user. If you believe a child has provided such information, please write to camandante2009@gmail.com and it will be removed promptly. Users aged 13 to 15 may use the Application only with parental consent where applicable law requires it.
🧠 Security
Because your archive never leaves the device, it is protected by the safeguards already in place there, including the device passcode and system level file protection. Appropriate electronic and procedural measures are used to prevent unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure of data. Even so, no method of electronic storage is completely secure, and absolute protection cannot be guaranteed.
🪞 Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to the Application or to legal requirements. The date at the top of this page always shows the most recent revision. Continued use of the Application after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
